Just wondering if any of you Vitamin C serum users are just sticking with 10% for entire face or are you using the recommended 5% for the eye area? Is 10% too harsh for under eyes? Do I really need a 5% too?
Also, have any of you (using any percentage) of Vit C used it long enough to see any effects under your eyes? I am currently using Obagi Cffectives High Potency 10% Vitamin C Serum and sometimes using it under my eyes, but not all the time.
I keep seeing that ad for Cellex-C with the older guy and the dramatic difference. Here it is in case you haven't seen it: http://www.cellex-c.com/end_user/science/ct.htmlThe picture doesn't look doctored and even his upper lids are greatly improved, so he must have been using it there too.
I'm obsessed with my eye area. Any comments appreciated!

Cheri,
I've been using my C serum (the cellularskinrx.com brand that has 12% in it) for quite awhile under my eyes with no problems. I went easy at first just to see if I would have a reaction but it was just fine for me. I definitely think it helps the area to look smoother and brighter. |

Hi betterat40 and thanks for replying. I have a really dry eye area and was worried it may be too much, but I won't know until I try it everyday, right? I am starting to get bags so maybe I'll see some firming like the man in the photo! Again, thanks for the advice.

Well, I've used Vivier 20% on my face while using the Cellex-C vit c Eye Serum around eyes. I can use (and also have used) a higher concentration around the eye area but I just don't want to dry it out. If you haven't used vit C around the eye area before then take it easy when trying the 10% in that area. |

Guapagirl - what is it with you and high concentrations!? I guess if your eye area is tollerating it well then it should be fine. |

well they haven't fallen out yet! I had some crepiness a while back, but I think that was the CPs....They seem pretty firm and OK apart from lack of sleep due to worrying about course work etc! |

I would not take that picture of the Cellex-C guy too seriously. The more damaged side was the side that faced the window while driving.
L-ascorbic will help but not as much as a prescription retinoid.
It probably isn't necessary to use a very high concentration of L-ascorbic acid in every case. There have been a couple of papers showing a benefit at 3% and 5%
3%

5%

Thanks marika for the great link. Very informative! I do use the prescription retinoid Tazorac .1% on my face and .05% around my eye area. Do you think using the any percentage of C around my eye area would be too much along with retinoids? I use the retinoids at night of course.

Cheri, yes it could be too much, but it could also provide for faster resolution of problems and better results in the long term. You will have to experiement to find the best balance between efficacy and tolerance.
I have overdone it myself a few times in that area. I give it a rest from everything and I recuperate in a few days. |

I'd love an update on this post. I'm still struggling to choose a Vit C product.
I'm torn between Obagi Cffectives High Potency 10% Vitamin C Serum and Vivier Vitamin-C IDS™ High Potency Serum 20.
Did you end up getting something different for your eye area?

I love the Obagi C-Effectives 10%, personally (I'm not sure how much that matters, though!) My mother has used the C-Effectives 5% for her eye area and she really liked it. She was also using it with the Obagi eye cream, too, though. IMHO I wouldn't put 10% on the eye area, especially since every company that makes a serum especially for the eyes is using 5%. It's just so easy to forget how delicate the eye area really is, especially when it can seem to handle strong products outwardly. |

I have fair sensitive skin and have been using the Cellex-C Advanced C Eye Firming Cream (10%) and have not had a problem with irritation. Although I am not so happy about the cream looking dark peach in color, other than that it is a great product. |
