In the morning I cleanse, tone, put on Vitamin C Serum, sunscreen . . . . .

I recently discovered that if I put on my Shishiedo SPF 34 Powder FOundation, then put a wet sponge over it, it fixes my huge pore problem.

The question is . . . will the C Serum be cancelled by putting a moist sponge over it?

Is it better not to wear foundation at all?
The C Serum is really working to give me smaller pores, and I don't want to ruin it.

Hope this makes sense ... THanks

catloveschanel,

I think as long as you give it a few minutes to absorb first what you are doing is fine! The rest of your routine and products shouldn't interfere at all! Your sunscreen actually should protect your C from oxidizing from light exposure so that's a good thing!

Very Happy Thank You! I am so happy that the C worked, plus discovering the trick about putting a damp sponge over the powder made me happy too because it takes my pores away. No more pores for me!

I learned on this forum that you need to wait about 20 mins (ideally 30) before you put anything else over your C Serum. Just to be safe and if you have the time, give your C some time to sink in, before using anything else.

Confused opps, I wait about 10/15 minutes. I will wait longer before applying anything else from now on. I'm just usually in such a rush in the mornings.

What are the negative affects of applying other products too soon?

I wait 30 mins too, because I have the time - but honestly I think it's overkill. 10-15 mins should be fine.

I hope it is 10-15 mins because waiting 30 mins is really inconvenient for me. I put my C Serum on after my shower at 6:30 in the morning, but have to be a work by 7 AM, so I have to wait until I get to work to put on my sunscreen and makeup. Pain in the patootee.

Here you go. This is from the thread on pH and wait times posted by Tangal:

http://www.essentialdayspa.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=18360

Other Products are also pH dependant, and can be affected. Solution of L-Ascorbic Acid forms of Vitamin C are pH dependant. For good stability and effective action, a good Ascorbic acid product is about 2.0 pH. Since Vitamin C absorbs faster into the skin, you can generally have a shorter wait of about 10 to 15 minutes. Because of its fast absorption, it is not generally used as an exfoliate.(Assuming you want to use it as a treatment activity, not simply for its anti-oxidant effects)
To work as an anti-oxidant, it is not pH dependant.

I would have to dig and see if I can even find where it's posted but I do recall that unless you are using Vitamin C for it's exfoliation properties there was only a 2-3 minute wait time prior to application of other products, assuming it's being used as an antioxidant.

Excellent! I love my C and how it's shrinking my pores. I'm going to marry it. Very Happy

So I'm thinking that maybe I've confused the "wait time" for C serums with the "wait time" after applying it for use with the Anti Aging Light Stim. This new revelation which change my morning routine! I'll be able to head to work with make up on!

I don't think you've confused anything - the wait time just seemed to "grow" with various members input!
