hey everyone, i have a question. i cleanse and moisturize my face twice a day. when i apply my moisturizer, i put it all over my face except my nose. my nose is really REALLY oily. after i cleanse my face, my nose is oily after about 15-20 minutes & i have alot of sebum plugs on it that will never go away
my question is, SHOULD i be putting moisturizer on my nose? i never put it on because i worried it might make the plugs worse and i assumed my nose already had enough moisture.
anyway, thanks |

hey casablanca,
i think what you're doing is right. if your nose doesn't need it, then leave it out. sounds right to me! |

Casablanca,
I have an oily nose too. I do use products on my nose at night but do not use moisturizer or any other product except a DIY pearl cream on my nose in the morning. The pearl cream does a great job at controlling the oil during the day and because there are some other goodies in the cream, my nose is getting the benefit of those too. I recently started using Retin-A and it has done wonders for my nose in terms of pore size. |

I have to agree, I would not moisturize your noise under the circumstances, unless it is a moisturizer which is specificallly geared towards clearing the skin. |

You could try using a water based moisturizer if you're worried about it. |

Personally, I find my skin produces more oil when it's dehydrated (e.g., air travel = oil slick!). So I use a small amount of jojoba oil on my face after washing. This seems to help seal in the moisture and "trick" the skin into not producing excess. |

I used to have that problem. I even had it when I was a kid despite having super clear skin until I was 19ish. I found using Dermalogica's microfoliant really helped that. My nose plugs are gone now and if anything are better with moisturisation. I think letting my nose dry out was causing plugs. You could try it and see how you go.
Another option is to use a microfibre cloth on the nose each night or an AHA or even tea tree oil in some form before bed.
Now if only my chin would behave as well with that routine. |

I dont use any product on my nose other than Retin-A 0.1% gel at night and the 5% liquid Salicylic Acid pH 1.9 in the morning from skincarecentral, the pores have significant reduced and less oil/sebum is excreted throughout the day. |

I think what you are doing is right too casa. Really you should only put moisturizer on the dry areas of your face. |

Maybe you can apply some oil control serum on your nose. It doesn't mean that your nose does not need moist although it become oily very soon. It the deep skin needs moist, the skin will secrete more oil to protect it.
My suggestion is using some oil control lotion or serum to keep your nose skin better. |
