Does anyone with Rosacea use Retin-a? If so, what has been your experience? Good & bad.
If Retin-a thickens the skin, then wouldn't it be good for those with rosacea? Would it not help with broken caps? I've been reading about ways to thicken the skin and now just trying to figure out the best way to do so for my rosacea prone skin.

To me, retin-a + rosacea = huge flare-up that takes a week to go away
I've tried quiet a few times and each time the result is the same. I'll never let retin-a go near my cheeks ever again. |

I've been using it for several months. I have the red/broken caps rosacea, not the pustules/papules. My skin is looking better in terms of pore size and smoothness since I started the retin a. I use the cream. I actually use the generic tretinoin (got script from my doctor because I do have some acne, and it only costs me $10!)
There has not been a reduction in the redness however. But I'm thinking the same thing as you, if it thickens the skin then won't it help mitigate the caps problem. I was reading that at first it thins the top layer of skin, but after using it for a while it ends up thickening the deeper layers of skin.
For me the only thing that has helped the broken caps/redness is getting the laser I had the pulse dye or maybe it was called tuneable dye, which leaves you extremely bruised for a week or so, but it helped a lot.
Also I have added finacea to my morning lotions. It's supposed to help fade redness, or so I'm told. I just started that. I think it takes time (months) to work. |

Some people experience an increase in redness and broken caps. I would guess from the irritation. This has not been an issue me personally. |
