Can anyone compare these? I've done TCA and glycolic in the past. I'm wanting to do a series of peel again. What kind of down time do you have with Jesser's? With 12.5% TCA double layer I had a full 10 days (started peeling on day 3 thru 10). |

I'm going to work up to using TCA and Jessner's together when my skin can tolerate it. I read that "Jessner's can require multiple concurrent applications and taping to aid in skin penetration" versus TCA, which is considered earlier to apply.
These might be useful: http://www.realself.com/question/what-should-expect-after-jessners-peel

http://www.totalskinandbeauty.com/Medium%20Depth%20Chemical%20Peels.html "Monheit then demonstrated the use of Jessner’s solution prior to the application of 35% trichloroacetic acid. The Jessner’s solution was found effective in destroying the epidermal barrier by breaking up individual epidermal cells. This also allows a deeper penetration of the 35% TCA and a more even application of the peeling solution.8 Similarly, Coleman has demonstrated the use of 70% glycolic acid prior to the application of 35 % trichloroacetic acid. Its effect has been very similar to that of Jessner’s solution.9 (Table II)".
"The frosting achieved with Jessner’s solution is much lighter than that produced by TCA and the patient is usually comfortable, feeling only heat. A mild erythema appears with a faint tinge of splotchy frosting over the face...The application of Jessner’s solution alone is equal to a superficial or light chemical peel."
I found lots of articles about combining TCA and Jessner's, if you want me to post excerpts. |
