Hello.
I've been reading the forum lately trying to gather as much information as possible but as you all know...there is so much great information I'll be a year older before I get through it all.
My plea for help:
I am turning 40 this year. I am really focusing on myself (first time in 14 years since I've had 3 children). I've lost 23.7 lbs since the beginning of the year (my goal is 25!) so with that being said, I'd like to start my next feel good goal which is great skin. Where do I begin?
Here are my issues:
I'm going to be 40 and have average + wrinkles mostly around eyes to show for it - forehead is ok. I have Milia and Sebaceous Hyperplasia as my primary conderns. Where should I get started, I love DIY remedies (Did the aspirin mask last night), the idea of the Lightstim or even purchasing great products. Please help me as I continue to browse the boards but there doesn't seem to be enough time in the day to read it all. If there are specific threads I should be reading, I'll do my homework too. Thanks so very much for any help you can give me. Where would you start with products or gadgets? |

A good sunscreen is really important.
VC serum is also helpful.
I don't know too much about retinoid, but it was discuss a lot in this forum. |

Huge 2nd! Start with the basics and give it time to see how your skin responds to those. |

If you were my daughter I would say the following:
1. Lose your weight slowly. Losing weight too quickly can make your facial skin sag, giving a hound dog look.
2. Use your sunscreen - every day!
3. Start on low dose trentinoin for evening.
It's good that you're looking after yourself more, you deserve it. |

Sunscreen is the most important.
Cleansing your face with proper cleanser.
Strong vitamin c serum 20% (Obagi or vivier) |

Will 3rd the Vit C serum, suncreen and retin-a!!
You can purchase your retin-a viawww.alldaychemist.com without prescription, very safe as many of us gals here use this website.
But I would suggest using a topical retinoid first for several months such as Green Cream or Skinceuticals before trudging in to full blown retin-a which can be really irritating to some. It's what I did and that allowed me an easy transition in to retin-a .05%.....
I will also add that taking internally MSM, hyaluronic acid, flax oil and other supplements... and changing to a very healthy diet will transform your skin from within....there isn't a topical in the world that will do what diet change will do....but, working from the inside AND the out will make a drastic change....it's fighting from both sides! |

I agree with bren21 on the diet advice. As well as some supplements, also try and cut out or minimize things that aren't doing your skin any favours - sugary stuff, for example, causes glycation which is aging. |

That is perfect advice. You could also go with botox/fillers but that can get messy. Also derma-rollers. |
