Hi everyone,
I tried the Clarisonic and my skin went crazy with red, irritated bumps all over. Do you think a microfiber cloth would be a better idea? I have just purchased Paula's Choice AHA gel but haven't used it. Would manual exfoliation and chemical be too much on a weekly basis?
Clarisonic is the only type of exfoliation I have tried.
Thanks so much and Happy Friday!

My skin does not tolerate a Clairsonic. I had to return it and only got $50 back.
Would a Micro Fiber Cloth be too much for my skin? I use Obagi Clenziderm (the one for acne): wash, toner, AALS!, and then put the benzoyl peroxide product on my face.
Some nights, I'll perform a clay mask or enzyme scrub on my face before the AALS to "get the crud off."
Should I add this step to my routine? I have sensitive skin and am prone to broken capillaries around the crevice of the nose. |

Yes, you could use the NCNProskincare.com microfiber cloth, even if you couldn't tolerate Clarisonic.
I got rid of my Clarisonic - it was eating my skin alive! Too harsh, too clumsy and too much. The microfiber cloth is nice because I can control the amount of exfoliating it does, not the machine. It gets in all the little corners that the machine can't and you can be very gentle with it.....I even use it on my eyelids, lashes and lips....something I would NEVER do with the machine.
You can still overdo it with the cloth tho...Make no mistake, it still is an exfoliator and you can skin yourself with it if you aren't gentle. Much cheaper to get a new cloth every 6 months or so than those expensive brushes too. |

I have the same symptoms after using Clarisonic...redness and bumps (maybe the brush is too harsh??), but I'm not giving up. I'm using it for a month now....just bought a different cleanser.
Clarisonic doesn't refund your money?? |

Although I own a clarisonic, I have to say I wouldn't consider it an exfoliation treatment. Yep its nice, and my skin can handle it provided I got a lot of water. Someone told me ages ago at the store, that the real secret to using this device is to ensure your face is very wet, and you have lots of cleanser to allow the sonic waves to cleanse the skin thoroughly without iritiating it. I know before following that advice, my skin got iritated easily however since using lots of water (and making sure the brush is very wet - its been fine with me).
I do use NCN's cloth once a week, sometimes twice a week. I don't use the clarisonic daily, but more every other day as I am worried about overcleansing the skin. |

Thanks for the good scoop on the NCN cloth! They are pretty inexpensive considering the $250 I spent for the professional Clarisonic (a friend now has it). I think I will give them a try.

Like TM said,I don't consider it an exfoliation treatment, just more cleaning. But the more water and cleanser you use the better.I also use NCN cloths 3X aweek for exfoliation and blackheads on the nose.Maybe your skin needs to just get use to it. |

My mom recommend microfiber cloth to me. She felt it's very useful. But I'm too lazy, so I just use cleanser and water |
