Question, Why the switch from facial soaps to gel/cream cleanser for face care. I know it dries out the skin but are there other reason behind also. |

True soaps are highly alkaline (pH 9-11) and disrupt many of the skin's functions that work best in the 5.5-6.0 range. Alkalinity also allows for more bacterial growth. True soaps may also fail to rinse clean, depending on water conditions, and leave an irritating film.
Some "soaps" are actually synthetic detergent bars, they may consist of a blend of soaps and syndets and have a lower pH (Dove bar, baby Dove, etc.). This means they are less irritating. They might also be superfatted and leave an emollient film on the skin. |
