I have sensitive skin and cannot use a lot of exfoliates. Even Avene gentle exfoliate left me blotchy one day.
This was suggested by a Sales Assistant in SDM. I purchased it on sale for under $20.00 cdn. You can see dead skin just roll off. I use it once a week. Package states (and tube itself) "Massage gently over your face and neck, avoiding eye area contour until exfoliation occurs. Rinse off with lukewarm water." 40ml package size
Inside package insert states under How to Use? " Apply Gentle Exfoliating Cream to clean, dry skin, and using fingertips lightly massage over face and neck avoiding eye contour." It takes a few minutes to dry. It must dry completely before you start to gently rub it off.
I think if used on wet or damp skin it won't work.
I have used other Gommage type exfoliates. One was Clarins (good but pricier) and the other was a salon product. I do remember having facials and the facialist using a gommage (eraser type) product as part of the treatment. (Dermalogica, etc.) |

I was in Shoppers yetesday. RoC was advertised as 25% off. However, there was a few items on a clearance shelf at 50% off.
I got two tubes of RoC Gommage at $8.99 each. This is truly a bargain as it should be close to $20.00 (still a deal compared to Clarins.)
I don't know if this product is getting new packaging or worst...discontinued.
Also I did not see any Calmance products. This was white with pink packaging designed for sensitive skin. |

Does the Roc gommage work for blackheads? You said you had sensitive skin, is it still working for you? Great you were able to buy it on sale, wonder if it is still available. I'll have to look at my SDM.

The SDM are clearing out some RoC so take a look at that section.
Similar to RoC is the Clarins Gommage product. I bought the Clarins one before discovering RoC and it is very nice but more $$.
The Gommage type products are great for removing dead skin at the top level.
For blackheads or clogged pores (me) I think a BHA product works better. The theory is that BHA works within the pore and products such as AHAs exfoliate from the surface. The gommage mask seems to exfoliate the top layer gently and helps other products work better. |

i have used gommage products from a few lines (Ice Elements, Yonka, Missha) in the past. the gunk you see "roll off" is definitely not mostly skin. the companies always advertise the roll off as dead skin, but it is from the ingredients they use. i think it's similar to applying rubber cement then rubbing. some skin comes off, but it's mostly just the ingredients from the gommage that shows up. if the roll off was mostly skin, i would imagine it to be really scary and painful.
i think gommages are good for skin circulation since you have to massage them off and skin is definitely smoother but for better exfoliation, i think asprin mask is better. Autumn, have you tried doing an asprin mask? i know you mention you are sensitive but there's ingredients like honey you can add that will make it less irritating. |

I also use the Clarins one for my dry, mature, menopausal skin  ... so gentle with my face Love it! |

I have used the Clarins one also. If you have a Clarins facial; that is part of the facial. (This is the facial that is complimentary and done in a separate room. I also got some lovely samples.) |

I have done the asprin mask and it is totally different. The aspirin mask feels grainy and is also a type of chemical exfoliation while the gommage one is not. I think the gommage exfoliate is more gentle. |
