Hello!

I searched the internet but could not get any information on the shelf life of a tube of Retin-A? I use Tretinoin (Atralin). Would anyone know how long it is good for? Thanks!

Do you mean how long it is good for past the expiration date?

Hi RileyGirl!

hmmm, I don't see an expiration date on it. Let me give it a good look over again. Smile

Yep, there should be. Most of the time it is on the crimped end of the tube.

Thanks RileyGirl!

You were right it was engraved into the bottom of the tube. Good until January 2012. That is a long time, thanks again!

why are expiration dates always almost unreadable. they are so faint and crimped on the end, on a lot of tubes of cream. Mad

Because it's easiest for the darn manufacturers, I think it's normally on the box when you purchase it, I use a permanent marker and write it on the tube, bottle whatever so I know I can see it! Smile

Unfortunately, Retin A does not come in a box.

I just put my magnify glasses on, zizi, and I can read it ok after that!

I would still use the marker after checking, just to make it easier. I guess I know I would forget, too many other things to keep in my head. LOL Laughing Laughing Laughing

So does anyone know if it is effective past the expiration date. I have a full tube (unopened) that expired in October. What do you think?

thanks!

LOL! I also use black permanent marker on skincare items that I purchase that don't have expiration dates, like my SkinCeuticals Vit. C Serum, etc. This way I know how long my skincare items have been around.

MystyPines,

Thank You! I am so glad I am not the only one! Smile

erg,

I know some meds become stronger with time and some weaker, without asking a health care professional I would err on the side of caution, but maybe someone else has used Retin A past the expiration date? Smile

I know that people on makeup alley say it is fine to use 1 year past the expiration date. But, personally, I won't use drugs past their expiration date. I think it would be best to ask a pharmacist, as they would probably know for sure.
