Hi Sis, yes, you are one of the members from whom I have learnt a lot.
With some product lines, I get an uncomfortable feeling that the thread might be "influenced" somewhat by the company that manufactures or distributes the product. But at least with this thread, I have read the experiences of some of you trying other skincare lines with some "disappointments" along the way, so I know that you have a more balanced perspective and not exclusively set on one brand. |
mlrox - I see what you mean about the possible influence of other skincare lines - *I've been there* and made expensive decisions with no results. The good thing about CP's is there is no big advertising push - it is low key that way - though not for the faint of heart - you have to be willing to know the process and put the time in to do it right. Personally I like that.
They recognize using CP's with another product = they advise use of C serum products with theirs in an honest way (separate 12 hours) and that says a lot to me. Plus telling you how to use retina for maximum effectiveness is helpful and not something you'll see with other lines. |

Hi Foxe & Star Model,
May I know if you put Copper Peptide before/after retinoid. |

Thank you *so* much Foxe, for starting this thread, and also Star Model, both of you for your valuable input & advice! I just started with the Skin Signals a few days ago & hope that it will help get rid of some hyperpigmented spots on my cheeks that I've had for about 10 years.
I've been using a very dilute amount of the SS on my entire face & spot treating full-strength on the spots. It's very interesting-- in just a few days, the overall texture of my skin is looking really nice. (Is this possible?)
However, my spots have gotten *darker*-- strange, because I've also been using Lemon Peel Bioferment on the spots, which had made them lighter than they've been in years. I suppose the darkness is the pre-existing damage that is surfacing, ready to be sloughed off? I hope so! We'll see what happens...
I'm also starting my hubby on the SS-- he has *no* skincare routine except shaving, and it's starting to show! Will continue to update... |

If you are using a serum based CP, it will absorb pretty fast, so I would recommend using that before a retinoid. Plus, the pH of the CPs is around 6.0 (which is just a little higher than our normal one of 4.5-5.5), so it would only take about 10- 15 minutes for your skin to absorb the CPs and for the pH to return to normal.
If using a cream, they may take longer to absorb, so you may need to apply it after the retinoid. If you do apply after a retinoid, you need to give the retinoid longer to work - around 45 minutes. Most retinoids (and acids like AHA or BHA) have low pH's - around 3.0. If you apply a product that has a higer pH too soon on top, it will cause the lower pH product to stop working too soon. Let the lower pH product work by itself for a while before topping it off with another product. It normally takes the skin about 20-30 minutes to return to it's normal pH of after a lower pH product has been used, but a retinoid has a longer 'half-life' so you may want to let that one work longer. Acids (like AHA or BHA) need about 20-30 minutes. |

That is pretty soon to be seeing some results, but the Skin Signals is a little different than the rest of the CPs with the added collagen and elastin, so who knows? I did see some improvement in a months time when I started with the CP Serum.

Oops- to clarify, I mean that his *lack* of skincare is apparent! His skin is starting to look a little wrinkled. (He's 40.) And actually, it seems that he looks a little *worse* since starting the Skin Signals-- a little more wrinkling than usual-- although I don't think that he cares that much. (But I'm the one who has to look at him!) Hopefully these are just the uglies that are surfacing & will eventually go away. |

I should have asked if you also used retinoid in you skin care regime. |

It might be some form of uglies. Just have him use it every other day for a while or use less of it. If you have the spray bottle, quite a bit comes out. You can also dilute it, but I doubt your DH would do that (mine wouldn't ) |

I do use a retinoid. I've used them for almost 20 years on and off for acne and have tried many different ones.
When I started using CPs in '08, I used Tazorac first, waited about 45 minutes and then used CPs. I stopped using CPs in '09 for most of the year while I tried a new skin care line. When I started up again in the later part of the year, I also started using a different retinoid - Retin A Micro. Retin A Micro has a slow release technology - 'microspheres' and also has a higher pH of 6.0. It's pretty much pH neutral. I now apply my CPs first/let them absorb/then apply the Micro. Since the two products' pH is the same, it's just a matter of making sure the first product is absorbed. I've seen good results doing it this way. |

Summer, I use Retin-A in a variety of ways.
When using .025 I apply Retin-A 1st (wait at least 30 min) follow with Skin Signals/Emu, but lately I have been using P&R Classic Cream 1st allowing my skin to adjust for about 15 mins./.05 Retin-A/ Emu on top after at least 1/2 hr.
It is not critical when you use it as long as you use it in the PM.
You can also use it on alternate nights from your CPs. I use it only 2 - 3X per week.
Some people even mix it into their stronger CP Creams (Super COP or 2X). |

I can confirm from experience, that sun damage will get darker as it slowly pushes up. It becomes more apparent at 1st. But it will gradually slough off using your hydroxys and abrasion techniques. It would be better for you and your husband to work your skin up to Skin Signals which is quite strong. CP Serum will help to acclimate your skin to CPs. Your husband will probably do better with Super GHK or CP Serum.
Unless diluting, Skin Signals is too strong to start out with. You need to gradually increase CPs to get the best benefits - Similar to Retin-A. Starting off too strong may bring the damage up too quickly. Also alternating days or nights is best for new users.
The main reason to go slow with CPs using milder products 1st, is to avoid too much action at once. Some call this the *uglies* and many have more damage under their skin than they realize.
So slow is better. |

So retin a should only be used in the evening? I am thinking of switching my CP use to the morning so I guess I would use these at opposite ends of the day if that's the case.
Another question Star - Are you taking a break from skin signals (you mentioned using P & R classic)? If I'm not being too nosy, Is there a reason for this?
I used PR classic way back and I recall really liking it. The PR with retinal didn't work as well on my skin. |

Foxe & Star Model,
You two are awesome! Thanks so much for all of your advice-- it really is so reassuring to have someone who *knows* what they are doing, esp re: a strong skin remodeling agent like copper peptides!
Hubby & I are both diluting & plan to work our way up to full strength with the Skin Signals. I suspect that I have *less* underlying skin damage than him, except for my spots, since I have a regular skin care routine, wear sunscreen, etc. This is probably why I'm not seeing any wrinkling or sagging on my part. Really, in fact except for my spots (which, as I mentioned before seem to be darkening a bit) my skin is looking really quite nice. After hearing so much about the "uglies"-- which frightened me away from the copper peptides for a long time-- I'm surprised to see that the copper peptides appear to be giving me an *immediate* benefit-- greater skin clarity, tighter pores, more even skin tone (except for the spots).
I guessing that the most likely reason I'm not seeing any uglies is because there is some sort of synergy going on with all the *other* things that I'm doing as well... probably my high frequency device more than anything.
Has anyone experienced success treating hyperpigmentation with copper peptides? I've seen some before & afters on the Skin Biology website that are quite impressive... |

Sounds like you are on your way JLM! Yes, you can completely remove hyperpigmentation using CPs along with Hydroxy's and/or Retin-A.
Honestly, I think your husband will do much better by using CP Serum and an exfoliator like Exfol Serum on the opposite end of the day. Or if diluting the Skin Signals, be sure he uses something like Exfol to work on breaking down the damage. Exfol AM (even after shaving doesn't sting) and CPs PM.
He may even pass you up if he sticks to it! |

Yes Sweets, I use both Skin Signals & R&R Classic. SS in the AM and P&R at night. I love the way it makes my skin look and feels.
Even on my off days, I use P&R Cream. I love it! |

I use both Exfol and SS in the pm - I apply Exfol first, wait 30 mins then apply SS - that's ok isn't it? |

I thought it was okay to do it that way Keliu, but maybe using at opposite ends of the day has a bonus.
It is certainly a plus if you don't have wait time when you're in a hurry. |

Well, I received my order yesterday - Exfol serum, CP serum and Emu oil. I took some before pictures (for my own reference) boy, were those scary to look at! I used all three last night diluting one drop of CP serum with seven drops of water. It is going to be hard to be patient but I think I can do it! My only complaint was that the top/dripper part of my bottle of Exfol serum somehow came to be inside the bottle instead of on top! It doesn't leak with the cover on but I'm a little dissappointed. I contacted customer service yesterday by email but haven't heard anything from them yet. I just read they aren't the best at getting back to there customers, bummer. |

karianne - I'd call them. I've never tried to contact them via email for a CS problem, but just recently had to call (forgot to add the free Lactic 10 to an order) and they answered right away AND told me the order had already been sent out (the next morning!) I thought that was very fast CS.

Foxe and Star ~ You girls are great! Thanks so much for sharing. I've learned a lot from this tread, and I'm so glad I found it. Thanks for starting it.
I just ordered CP Serum yesterday and can't wait to start using it, slowly of course. I plan on in the AM a C-Serum, AHA, and sunscreen. In the evening I plan on CP, followed by emu-oil, then after a 1/2 hour or so apply my Tretinoin. Does that sound about right? Is there any room for a night cream after that?
So many products, so little time. |
