Does anyone subscribe to New Beauty Magazine? Is it worth the price? |

I've purchased a couple of single issues which are expensive, about $10. There is only a bit of information that is useful, but I believe it's main objective is to highlight dermatologists, plastic surgeons, cosmetic dentists, etc., that are located within specific geographic regions. If you purchase the magazine in Chicago, you'll find profiles on midwest pratitioners; if you purchase it in Florida, you'll find Florida profiles. My assumption is that the practitioners pay to have their profiles published, but it looks more like editorial content than an outright ad. |

I subscribe. I love the magazine. They highlight different products for different issues every month, tell about new products/procedures, etc. It is the only magazine I subscribe to. |

I've picked it up for my area (Wash DC Metro).
It's about 20% info, 80% advertising.
Commands a high price for a magazine, IMO.
Now I just browse through it at the store.

That's why I stopped buying all beauty/fashion magazines except for once in a blue moon! |

I have seen this and thought about buying it but the $10.00 price tag is a little too much. I think I have only seen it in Shoppers Drug Mart and for $10.00 in a drugstore you can buy a lot of stuff (makeup, nail polish, etc. or two magazines)
What type of articles do they have? Is it similar to Allure? Or is more on procedures? For my area, if it was plastic surgeons, derms, etc. it most likely would be Toronto area (and I prefer NOT to drive that distance and want someone local and not so pricey.) |

I have subscribed for a few years now. I really like it, but it does have quite a few ads that make you want to buy everything, lol! |

This is what I plan to do. I find more substantive info on beauty products on the Internet. Also, because of the emphasis on doctor profiles, I expected the articles on their covergirls to be more honest. No such luck. |

The website is always interesting to look at. It also has on-line versions of back copies you can read:

This is one of the mags I always flip thru in the store to see the latest in skincare. I've never bought an issue, mainly because of the focus on procedures. Allure mag is just more fun!! |

Thanks for the link. This gives me an idea of what could be in the magazine. |

I subscribed to Allure for years. I sent in my subscribtion request even before the first issue came out.
I still buy it once in a while, but I find the real "cutting edge" news in products is usually on a forum or someone's blog before it shows up (if ever)in Allure. |

Girlie - Just FYI in case you haven't been there, realself.com has a method for asking drs. about procedures. |

I love the makemeheal forum, it is great for procedure questions. I used it alot when I was about to try out something new, like Fraxel. |

Sites like realself, makemeheal, and EDS (of course!), are what I was thinking of when I said I find better info on the Internet. I kind of expected New Beauty magazine to offer more hardcore info than it does and to be a better filter for the glut of info that's on line. |
