I've been reading several threads that mention silicones in hair, make-up and skincare products and the consensus seems to be bad. And can I say, it's making me a little paranoid!
What exactly are silicones and how do I identify them in my products? The conclusions I've found on the web seem to range from good to harmless to bad... and I'm a little confused. |

Silicone's are not bad. There are several different types, usually ending in 'cone'. They are used to help make products spreadable, hold in moisture and even used in scar healing.
In skin care and make up it's YMMV. They are suppose to be rather neutral but not everyone's skins like them.
In hair care, some silicone's can build up on the hair but its easily remedied by using a clarifying shampoo. |

My initial reaction regarding silicons was negative, but after researching and reading what so many members here have said, I changed my mind totally. I don't use massive amounts but some products like a foundation primer or frizz controller I have no problems using. |
