First I should say that I wanted to try this line so badly I PURCHASED a Cellcosmet trial kit here in Japan. I paid 4,000 yen (about CA$32) and got a pot of Ultra Vital, pot of Eye Cream and 1 vial of the Elasto-Collagen.

For my review of the Ultra Vital I have also pasted in my "first impression" and "one-week update" from my original thread "Cellcosmet excitement!! yipee!!" (http://www.essentialdayspa.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=3367)

FIRST IMPRESSION:
Ultravital: nice and light and leaves my skin feeling dewy. I am undecided on the scent though. I think I like it, but the scent is a bit too "fragrancy" for my liking. I dont like using brands like CD, Guerlain, and Thalgo due to the strong perfumes. I like the essential oil aromas like with Decleor. By law, the samples have to come with the full ingredient list, and I cannot find the characters for "fragrance" on there, so I am wondering what the scent is?

ONE WEEK UPDATE:
Ultra-Vital: Keeps the skin nicely moisturized, without residue or sticky feeling (which I like). But I am experiencing a few problems as my nose has become oiler, yet developing the dry, flaky skin as well. I had this problem almost a year ago and the beautician said because my skin is delicate it reacts like this when the moisturizer is stopping it from "breathing" (or something like that). I am thinking it might be a bit rich for my skin. So far, that problem aside, I am liking it, but have not found any reason to encourage me to spend the $$$ on buying it again. I might try and get samples from EDS of the sensitive day/night creams by Cellcosmet.

FINAL DECISION:
OMG.. after 2 weeks my face totally freaked out. There was no other change to my diet, stress, weather, beauty routine. When my face "breaks out" I get a stack of small red spots, which more resemble a rash than pimples (though they are not a rash). I developed these all over my forehead and at the temples. On top of that I was still having the trouble with the dry and flaking, yet oily, nose area. I stopped using the cream immediately and went back to camellia oil and dermabutter, which honestly after two weeks has just about returned my skin to normal.
I SO wanted to love Cellcosmet, because being "japanese" I have developed a strong brand consciousness LOL. I would probably rate Valmont as a way superior line of Swiss skincare, but that is just my opinion. I don't know why my skin reacted as it did. I know it was not the Cellcostmet elasto-collagen (see seperate review) because I was not using that on my forehead. Maybe the Ultra Vital was too rich.. I would consider trying the Cellcosmet sensitive moisturizers, but only if the samples were given to me Laughing Also, maybe the sensitive line has less fragrance.

My breakout hell aside, these are the positives and negatives I felt:

Postives: sunk into skin quickly without residue; seemed to keep skin (cheeks) supple
Negatives: could not get past that perfume; price.

I know it is not a very glowing review, but maybe someone who has had success with this cream could add their experiences too. I think my experience is a good example of why we should always get samples before going for full size! (especially for expensive items!)

I am going to try adding the Rosa y Fruita Ambrose cream for night use in winter and have asked EDS for some Babor moisturizer samples with my last order, so hope to try them too. But for now, I am happy with my moisturizing routine I have returned to.

Sounds like this really didn't work with your skin! Just as well that you got the samples first, it really sucks when you spend money on a full size and find out that you're having a reaction to it.

Does your skin react to many products? Or is this reaction fairly rare?

I myself have not used this yet but I do have a sample (two even!) that I have been hoarding. I'll update when I try it but it's very unlikely that I'll have a reaction - it's quite a rare occurence for me.

the only other "product" I had such a reaction to was an Asprin mask. Laughing

I know to be sure I should try it again for a few days, just to make sure this was the culprit (but I cannot see anything else that could have been). Maybe I will after I get back from Australia at Xmas (that way if I break out I can hide at home for a few days over New Year break)

Wow, I really enjoyed reading your objective notes...I think it is a very rich cream and I would only use it in the winter when I have to shovel the snow and it is minus 30.

I love the Cellcosmet line, (pricey, unfortunately Crying or Very sad ). However, I didn't like the ultra vital...way too heavy for me. Left me with a greasy film.

Since my last post in this thread (which was last year) I have actually used this cream. I like it but I could not use it daily because I find it too rich as well. It's not that it's heavy, it just really is moisturising IMO, much more than I need. I could only use it at night and I can't justify the cost for that at this stage. I know that at least a few people here swear by it.
