I've been using a 2% Salicyclic Acid from GOW on my skin on and off for a couple months now. I usually used it 1-2x a wk applying all over the face or spot treated. I feel that my skin would be dry and peeling after awhile. Also, there seem to be increased blackheads & breakouts in places that I don't usually have them. So my question is, is this normal? I thought it might be purging but it seems to purge like forever and doesn't want to stop? I stopped using the SA for awhile now and my skin seems to calm down a bit.

I would like to know if anybody out there experienced anything similar to mine? Or share your experience with using SA? Thanks! Very Happy

Sounds normal. If you are only using 1-2 wk then its really not getting a chance to clean out your pores thoroughly.

I think to get the most benefit from SA you need to use it daily. You can work your way up to daily if it is too drying for you at first. That way it can really work on clearing out your pores. After several weeks or when you feel your pores are clear, you can then try cutting back on it if you like but I really think it needs to be used daily to be most effective.

This is helpful. I have been doing the aspirin mask the same- once a week- and also finding that it increased blackheads for me. Once my skin gets calmed down, I might try the mask three times a week and see what happens then.

Please note that aspirin in not the same as using SA. It does not contain SA.

Should I still be using SA when there're like huge red pimples from it? I know it's trying to get rid of the underlying bumps and clogs but this is too much to take! And it leaves deep red marks too Sad

Where is it leaving the deep red marks? Do they look like bruising? Is the skin flakey when it begins to heal and itchy? If its in a circle around the n/l area and on your chin, it could be an outbreak of perioral dermatitis, in which case you need to lay off everything until it heals.
