Hi there
Through the combined expertise and sharing of the members here, I have really held the line on wrinkles and clear skin - will turn 50 next year...but as you all know, 50 is the new 30
Through topicals, dermarolling and Botox, my skin looks better than it did a decade ago...and yet, I cannot deny what gravity, age and weight loss has done to change the overall shape of my face and jawline. My face is now "bottom heavy".
I recognize facial exercise works for many here. I have decided to try for improvement through a quicker, more aggressive route.
I do not need a full facelift...it would be crazy (in my opinion) to radically cut and stretch my face at this point in time.
I have sagging cheeks and slight jowls and something of a double chin - these will only be exacerbated and not improved by, further weight loss.
Options:
A combination of semi-permanent fillers, chin lipo or
a short scar facelift (mini cheeklift)under local anesthesia.
or some combination of all or some of the above.
Would love to get any comments from any who have undergone these treatments or similar or know someone who has.
Costs? Side effects? Recovery time and trouble?
etc.!
Thank you, BF |

It's probably best to get several consults with reputable surgeons who specialise in facial surgery. If you have plenty of volume but just some sagging in the jawline and cheeks, then a lower facelift with an endscopic midface lift could work. If you have lack of volume (esp. in the cheek area), then fillers or fat can help take up the slack and then lipo for the slight jowls and double chin.
This will sound crazy, but I'm considering some kind of facelift at 28 due to premature ageing and weight loss. Can't really afford it but going for a consult to see what is possible.

I don't think you can attach photos. You upload them elsewhere and post the link here. |

Barefoot, I think you look great, and not even close to 50.
I really don't see the 'bottom heaviness' you mentioned, but I can relate to the dreaded inverted V we all eventually wind up with... It does creep up slowly, then bam!
I love your cute chin BTW, it's very youthful looking..(Like the kind we like to squeeze on a kid.. )
Have you considered just some filler in the NL area? I know when I finally get my courage up, a bit of camouflage with fillers will be my 1st venture. |

Hey Barefoot,
I agree with Kassy, wow you look nowhere even close to 50!
It's hard to say what you need (if anything) because the picture is smiling and not close up.
Really still think just have a few consults, point out your concerns and see what the docs recommend. They may well turn you away wondering why this 30 year old looking women wants any surgery!

I think you should save your money. You don't need invasive face work, and as Dee and Kassy have said, you look way younger than 50. |

This doesn't even show my double chin, which never goes away, no matter how much weight I lose.
It may be hard to see in the photo, but my cheeks have that flat look that comes after weight loss.
When it comes to bottom heavy, whenever I smile, my cheeks stick out really wide, while the top of my face stays narrow - weird looking almost.

Barefoot, imo there's always a 'downside' to any procedure that's done..it's impossible to really determine how anything is going to effect us in the long run...
others probably see you more like you present in the photo (which is stunning) rather than how you see yourself..(and this way you can say it's all natural..it's all me!) |

Barefoot, you would really need to post pics that show the probs you describe more clearly.
For a double chin, micro liposuction and for flat cheeks some fat or filler could be the answer.
You are also very lucky to have a nice compact midface as even with any flatness of the cheeks or nl grooves, it never looks as bad as when you have a long midface (like me).

Wow your skin looks great. And you are so beautiful and youthful for your age!
I don't see the problems in the pics, but I lost weight a few years back too and it showed first in my face. A little more sagging and the dreaded NL folds showed up. I would love to have a mini-lift there and i do talk about it to my DH all the time and I will some day.
I tried lasers and peels which was the wrong approach as it did not help tightening even though I was told it would. Waste of money and time.
You might just start with the fillers and see if that gives you the lift around the NL area. That's the only thing right now short of the surgery that has helped me. It plumps up the area, reduces the sagging and smooths out the lines. But it isn't permanent so it is time and money invasive.
Someone here on the board, Antonia I believe had the fillers done on her cheeks with happy results and it gave the face a lift.
My mother-in-law had lipo on her chin along with her facelift ten years ago and loves it. She, like my DH, inherited the dreaded turkey waddle from that side of the family and ws more than happy to get rid of it. |

Agree with the above: you look great in the photo and no need for heavy duty work. One easy (and much cheaper) fix you might try if you haven't already: Safetox. After a couple of weeks use, my observation is that it lifts the face, and as I recall others have mentioned it helping their n/ls.
I have had fillers -- mostly successfully -- and even so, now that I've discovered facial exercising and other toys, I see no reason to use the fillers. |

Keep smiling - you're even more beautiful that way and the little pooch under your chin goes away when you smile - at least mine does - and if you have one, then I can see yours does too. |

Since my hubby has that dreaded waddle and he doesn't want to go under the knife, his solution is to remember to keep the chin up, literally and figuratively.
