Hi,
I recently had a very bad allergic reaction to some bandaids and glue that was on my arm.
My arm was left with some very red rough, dry flaky and tight feeling skin.
I've tried around 10 different creams and lotions so far everything from Aveeno, benadryl cream, natural cream, high end stuff...
Pretyy much everything left my skin feeling kind of burned.
I finally in desperation used the Mario badescu healing cream..which is really meant for the face, but I use that on my elbows a few times a week.
For the first time in a month my skin looked less red and the burning sensation calmed down!
I know the main ingredient of the cream is Balsam peru and have not seen much else that contains that.
Does anyone know of any other products I can try that contain that ingredient?
I can continue using the healing cream, just that is it kind of impractical to be slathering that on my arm when it is a small 30ml jar.
I have a referal to a dermatologist but that is in 6 to 8 months from now as the Canadian health system is very slow.
Thanks! |

Ottawa,
I use a few drops of balsam per in my diy face serums...which could easily be appplied to the body instead...(it's just botanical oils and essential oils(eo's)..but you could just use the balsam peru essential oil with whatever botanical oil(ie. carrier oil) your body is comfortable with.
i buy most of my eo's fromwww.mountainroseherbs.com. ..they have the best quality eo's (organic or wildcrafted) for the least expensive pricethat i am aware of...i'm not sure about shipping to ottawa though,,they are located in Oregon, USA...it may be better to purchase the balsam peru eo closer to home... even if it is more expensive... to avoid higher shipping costs |

Ottawa,
I used to buy a Shea butter mix with Balsam Peru in it but cannot recall the name! I agree with JR it is much more economical to purchase the essential oil and add it to a cream, oil or butter of your choice. |

Thanks for the link!
I will check the website.
I used to make soaps and perfume oils as a hobby before.
The one good store in my city that was a natural store and chemist shop closed 1+ year ago.
They used to stock stuff like that, along with glass jars, bottles and every herb you could think of.
I'm not surprized they closed. The owner would be so rude if you called. His prices were 50% higher than anywhere else.
But even with the higher prices,I think it was the rudeness of some people working there that made themlose business.
I have family in the US,so can probably get them to mail me something from there too!
Was kind of hoping there was something readymade out there...
I guess this way I can put exatly what I want in a cream, lotion or oil |
