Hi,
I never tried any peels before. I’m trying to try something to fight wrinkles and melasma. Which one would you recommend? TCA 20% + Jessner's (Lactic Acid, Salicylic, Resorcinol) Chemical Peel or Perfect Peel Solutions 30% Lactic Acid Peel?
Is there anything else I should try? Retinol? Retin A? what brands are your favs?
I'm completely clueless.
Thank you!! |

I would use some kind of retinoid for about a week or 10 days before the peel, then do TCA + Jessner's. I've never done a home peel, so I would suggest that you start with a lower concentration on the TCA, so you can see how your skin reacts.
But there are lots of experts here. I had TCA, Jessner's and phenol peels last year, but had them done at the derm.
PS. I like Retin-A and Tazorac. |

TCA I know you can do at home - there are many sources. Jessner's I have heard of but not familiar with. I will be curious as to responses. |

I would actually prep the skin for at least 6 weeks with a retinoid and hydroquinone at night and an AHA in the morning (with good sunscreen!!) before attempting a peel. Or, you may even think about using the retinoid/hydroquinone at night and doing a stronger series of weekly peels (like lactic or glycolic) to prep your skin. I think the TCA+Jessners would work better for melasma than the lactic acid. |

Hi..I have done a lot of home peels over the years and had one professional 35% TCA with jessners, which was brilliant.
After mucking around a lot for 12 mths with various potions to try and lighten the sundamage and melasma on my cheeks I again decided to revisit TCA. I first did a one layer 20% TCA from perfect peels. It peeled but little result. 2 weeks later I did a 2 layer of the same which frosted and peeled 5 days later. Brilliant result. The muddiness is completely gone, but still a few sunspots. I will repeat in acouple of weeks. I dont know why it took me so long to do this again.
cheers

Bec do TCA peels effect fillers at all? Just wondering coz when I had my salicylic acid hand peel my doc said not to put any filler in my hands till after as the acid may effect the filler. |

Even though more expensive, I would recommend getting your first peel done professionally at a medi-spa or at your derm's office. If you take the necessary precautions and apply the peel correctly, it's not that difficult to do at home but for a first time user, having it done professionally will give you peace of mind, a baseline to know what to expect when you do yourself, and an opportunity to ask all your questions and learn about the process in detail from a professional. |

thank you so so much for all your great suggestions.. the most you write the most I learn so please keep them coming.. I've been postponing my first peeling for too long but it's a scary step I know I have to make.
PS: I'm sorry for my English.. it's not my first language |
