[this might be a tad gross.. ]
...they appear to think that they are a snake and it's time to shead the skin
I've never had this happen before and I'm posting hoping that someone might have had something similar. I've googled but can't find much and I'm not due back at the Dr (for unrelated matter) until end of next week.
Basically, I've got skin peeling off on the TOP of my little toe (both feet - seems that it's symmetrical!) starting around the nail area and moving down. I've also got largeish sections of skin peeling off on my toes (underneath - i.e. what you stand on). It's not itchy, it's not red, skin is not cracked or dry. I take very good care of my feet - exfoliate regularly, moisturise every night and spray with Gehwol foot spray in the mornings.
I don't think it's tinea as I've been told that this would be very itchy and would occur between the toes mostly.
Any clues?

Hi mabsy! Don't you think it's cause of your shoes? Not too tight around the toes (especially high-heels)?
I've got a similar problem with my pinkies, they also peel at the top, after wearing shoes (even sneaks). But then, it's cause I've got callouses on my pinkies.
But since you take good care of your feet, maybe your shoes are really the culprit that's why your toes peel. Just guessing really. |

I wondered whether it could be your shoes rubbing but you say that it's not dry. I have a couple of dry patches where my footwear has been rubbing my toes. My toes don't peel, just have a small, rough, dry patch. |

Well, I haven't been wearing any high heels or tight shoes recently - the shoes I wear are very comfy and they're also all-leather. Thanks for the suggestions though!
I'm not sure what's going on, I'm starting to wonder if it's some weird localised fungus :-& It doesn't seem to be going away so off to the Dr I go I guess |

Yeppers, you should see a doctor. They can do a simple test to see if it's a fungus and clear it up quickly. |

Yeah, I will do that this week. Meanwhile, I'm about to put Cellcosmet Antistress mask on my face (over-indulged last night and my skin is showing it!) and go soak my feet in a warm foot soak with tea tree oil |
