I am currently using Green Cream Level 6. It is going OK but it is not doing everything that I need. I still have a few breakouts and it doesn't seem to be doing much for my dark spots. I was considering using the Obagi C Serum (introducing HQ 4% and Vitamin C 10%) and Obagi C Exfoliating Day Lotion (introducing Glycolic Acid.
Thinking Retinol at night; Glycolic Acid & Vitamin C during morning?
Has anyone got any thoughts? Am I just looking for trouble? If anyone has used GA and Retinol at the same time, your feedback would be greatly appreciated!!!
I've used the Obagi Serum before and loved it. |

That is pretty much the Obagi protocol. If your skin is sensitive, you may have some issues with dryness, but otherwise you are fine to use all those products. |

I would probably have some issues at the beginning. The Green Cream caused some redness and peeling but my skin adjusted rather quickly plus I've stated using some Avene Repair which works! |

I'm also considering another alternative...
1. Stick with Green Cream 6 add in Obagi Clarifying Serum and Exoliating Lotion.
or
2. Upgrade to Green Cream 9 and only add in the Clarifying Serum.
Hmmmmm?????? |

If you are just trying to get rid of dark spots you could just add in the Clarifying Serum to your Green Cream. Maybe you could try adding just 1 at a time to let your skin adjust and see how you do? |

Yes, I'm being impatient I am sooo tired of looking like this But you are right. If I do more than one I will most likely end up with problems. It was like a burn when I first tried Green Cream so I'd better not push my luck. |

I definitely understand your feeling that way, but better to take it slow and get some results than to have to stop the products until your skin recovers and then restart them! Good luck, Tiffany. |

Yes, it's better to go slow! Remember that inflammation is a cause of unwanted pigmentation (i.e. postinflammatory hyperpigmentation).
Also, you might want to consider switching to Tretinoin (Retin-A) instead of retinol.
In the end, Retin-A + HQ, plus a light exfoliator (like weak glycolic acid) is really the the current standard treatment for sunspots so you just have to stick to it and wait. |

How long does it take for the spots to disappear with this routine? |

It can take up to 3 months, but some people start noticing fading within 2-4 weeks. |

Is it too much? I am afraid of irritation to your skin. |

It definitely can be irritating if you have sensitive skin. As above, you can go slow and introduce 1 of the ingredients at a time to let your skin adjust, and even when you would use all 3 ingredients you could alternate so 1 night tretinoin and the next glycolic, etc. You would have to make sure to wear a very good sunscreen doing this routine. |

I decided to talk to a very qualified esty yesterday about a skincare regime to help brighten and fade my discoloration. She recommended Obagi C RX system. I used the C serum years ago and broke out. However, they have a NEW Vit. C serum that is better and should not cause breakouts. So my new routine is using the C RX system and at night I will continue using Tazorac and then put the C-therapy night cream over it. This way I'm incorporating Vit.C, Hydroquinone, and Taz. She wants me to come back in 6 weeks and we may tweak my regime. Finally, I have a plan that I'm hopeful about!!!! |

Good luck, Sandralee. You will get results, just be patient. Some see a fading quickly, but the deeper spots can take up to 3 months. |
