I believe in fillers. Here is some of my research so far. You have to be specific with the product you choose. Not all Juvederm os good for cheeks, but here is the one that goes around as the one for that (it is my collection of info from different sources):
"Juvéderm™ VOLUMA™ is injectible hyaluronic volumiser that recontours the face to restore volume to chin, cheeks, and cheekbones that have become hollow or thin due to weight loss or age-related facial fat loss. Immediately after treatment, you should notice that your facial contours appear fuller and rounder . . . giving your face a softer, more youthful appearance. Depending on your course of treatment you may notice a return of the soft, full cheeks, and firm, high cheekbones of youth, a refreshing revolumisation of the face, and a marked return of the smooth jowls and jaw line and the firm chin of youth. And, your results will last—the lifting effects of treatment with Juvéderm™ VOLUMA™ have been shown to last up to 18 months!" |

the other one is
"Hydroxylapatite
is a mineral-like compound found naturally in human bones, suspended in a gel-like formulation. It is the heaviest of facial fillers and is recommended to fill deeper creases such as nasolabial folds, marionette lines and frown lines, as well as to enhance fullness of the cheeks and other facial contours.
Hydroxyapatite composes 70% of the bone in our bodies. In our bodies it is in the bone marrow and is used by the body to stimulate and thus create actual bone. It is also synthesized from sea coral to be used as implants. The most common form is hyproxyapatite paste. Usually this is mixed with other bone stimulating proteins and used in orthopedic surgery as a graft when there is insufficient natural bone available, for example in a fracture where there is bone missing.
Radiesse is a dissolved form of hydroxyapatite, a substance found within bone. Radiesse is a collagen stimulatory product combined with a facial filler. Best indications for Radiesse are in the nasolabial folds, jaw line and chin. Radiesse is very effective along the jaw line. It needs to be injected in a deeper plane than normal, and then cross threaded. However, the results are very nice. Because of the deeper injections, it is possible that you may have a few days of bruising after the injections, but it is well worth it. FDA approved fillers and Radiesse is the best in the marionette and jawline. Hands down. Radiesse is more of a structural filler than hyaluronic acid and therefore gives the support and shape these areas need.
Because it is not the porous kind it is not permanent as it does not get the in-growth of blood vessels. Radiesse, composed of calcium hydroxyapatite in a gel base typically lasts 12-18 months.
(Implant) It can also be found in a solid form. This form is a sterilized graft from sea coral that can be shaped and placed into the body. The graft is porous and allows blood vessels and soft tissues to grow into it. It becomes part of the body. Plastic surgeons occasionally use this for facial grafting when there is deficient bone or for cheek augmentation. " |

So it mostly depends on what your face structure is. If you only need to tighten up the skin, then ultrasound is fine.
If you want to add a soft volume, then J.Voluma is the best
If you need to supplement the bone structure, the Radiesse would be a better choice. |

Thanks, ella-stella. I just back from the plastic surg. who removed some stitches from an accident I had last week. I asked him about filler for my flattened cheeks. He recommended Radiesse. However, I've heard others use Juvy Ultra. |

The Juvederm Voluma is a newer generation, it is mostly specifically for the cheeks.
More people used to use J Ultra for cheeks before, because these fillers were approved in 2006: Juvederm Ultra for deep wrinkles and defects, and Juvederm Ultra Plus for deeper furrows, such as the nasolabial folds. |

Hi i read your thread. I was amazed of your results!!
I wanted to know how did the voluma effect the bags under your eyes?
I also want to tackle that as well as "lift" my cheeks. I already have "fat" in my cheeks b/c i have a "baby face" (look younger than my age) and i dont need any more extra "volume" but more of a "lift" if you know what I mean
I was thinking of doing ultrasound around the eyes to reduce the eye bags at a local salon or maybe later in life go "under the knife" which im trying to avoid as much as possible but it seems like the laser bleph can eliminate my "heavy fatty eye bags" |

Sorry missed this till now!!
No it provides more of a lift as it is done so very deeply. I am actually adding more superficial fillers myself to add some fullness in the apple area.
I dont have bags under my eyes but I do have some hollowing..it helped this a little only bc he put some in that area as well.
cheers |

Radiesse will last a lot longer than juvederm.I have had both. You will need a dental block for radiesse...it hurts like hell without it!!!!I had it once without it and almost fainted. |

I heard good things about juvy ultra too!
I actually dont need a "plump" because I naturally have a baby face so I have cheeks, but Im looking for more of a "LIFT" effect than plump if you knw what i mean |

Fillers are ok but some people claim that after they have dissipated their skin has been left in a bad way. Personally I would use ultherapy to lift the entire face and fat injections to plump the cheeks. At least then the fat has been taken from your own body and should (providing the surgeon accounts for a 50% loss) last for a quite some time. |

I can not comment on these "fillers" But I read that fat taken from stomach can be harvested to be used on cheeks (or areas of face) where volume is not there.
This is (I think) safer, than these fillers. But I could be wrong.... maybe depending on the doctor who is doing it. Best way is do a lot of research and get reference from people who did the same thing and were satisfied with the results from the same doctor, or a doctor who know very well in the past. |
