Hello.
I purchased 18% TCA from M.A.C., and applied it today (did patch test yesterday with two layers, it was alright), I first applied (within 90 seconds) one layer, but I might have went over a few areas a couple times (maybe 3 tops) with the first application... would this count as numerous layers? a small area on one cheek frosted, and so did (strangely) only my blemishes/scars.
5 minutes after, I applied a second layer to the non-frosted areas, and then neutralized it within a minute because of stinging - the baking soda/water stung like HELL for a few seconds, then cooled down, and my face felt tight, is this all normal?
I had a few pimples when I applied TCA, and the white stuff in them is coming more and more to the top, is this normal? Might I break out after this? Especially with the greasy polysporin (antibiotic) for 48 hours after : (
I assume I'll be fine as long as I don't pop/peel anything, stay inside for a couple days, and if I go out in 3 days (I have to for an exam) wear 30 spf and possibly a hat..
Thanks! |

Hi Jecifer -
When I apply TCA, I use a brush and I'm sure I overlap some areas more than once, so I think you are ok on how you applied it. That shouldn't count as multiple layers.
On the baking soda application - YES, that really stings. I usually rinse with plain water first before applying the baking soda solution. If you rinse with plain water, just be careful none of the solution runs into your eyes.
I can't really provide any input on the acne impact. That's not a problem I've had, thankfully. You may want to go easy on the ointment. If you are not really red/raw you probably don't need it. Just go with the sunscreen. And remember it'll look pretty bad and peely at 3-4 days...it gets better! |
