White cast
Natural Instinct has more white cast than burnout. Since I have a snow white skin, it's not a big problem, when I ask other people if they see that I wear sunblock they say "no".
Thickness
I would say NI is a bit thicker.
Spreadability
NI is a win for me here. But remember my skin is on a dry side, so it absorbs much of the moisture from the Burnout and then feels incredibly dry. With NI it feels a bit greasy before it dries out (3-5 minutes). So I wait for a couple minutes before applying powder which takes the extra shine away.

I'm planning to try Sofina - Perfect UV and Devita ss so that I compare NI with more elegant ss.
The last time I bought it from http://emed.com.au/ but they no longer carry it, so I'll have to find another place. It is also fairly cheap: 250 g for $18

| I just want to say that I have been using Burnout for a couple of weeks--before I found this thread and I really like it. I use the Eco-Clear version--got it at Whole Foods. I have used every sunscreen under the sun (haha) and I think Burnout is quality stuff. Nice texture, no white cast, not greasy. Holds up while I am running outside in the sun. |

I think that's the old ingredient list from way back (2008?). They have since reformulated. (What's new?  )
The Aussie sunscreens are only required to disclose their active ingredients and preservative used, so this is only what i know of the current one:
-Zinc Oxide 200mg/g
-Sodium Hydroxymethylglycinate as preservative
-Enriched with Aloe Vera and Vitamin E |

What state are you in? I called 2 different whole foods and none of them heard of burnout ss! |

There is an earlier post that it's only in California Whole Foods right now.
My guess is they are test marketing? I wonder if we ask out local WF if they might be able to get it in stock for us?  |

Natural Instinct sunscreen can be purchased from this site which ships internationally:

It has more of a white cast than Burnout but the cast dissipates after a while. However this means that I can't go out immediately after applying or I will have a ghostly white face.
Natural Instinct has stronger oil control than Burnout. This makes it more suitsble for those with oily skin.
However it is less sticky than Burnout. Those of us who live in equatorial tropical climates find the Burnout suncreens remain tacky on the skin even after hours. I presume those who live in temperate climates have less of a problem with the tackiness. |

Thank you for the detailed comparison! That helps a lot. I see why Natural Instict is better for you and Burnout is probably better for me and fits my skin and preferences better. (I don't need it to be more moisturizing, I never found it tacky and I like the texture, I love the no white cast and the lightness and spreadability). Just because in my experience burnout is my favorite doesn't mean it'll be everyone's favorite.
About the "primer" aspect, burnout probably doesn't feel like a primer to you because it has no silicones and I'm betting that natural instict is full of silicones. That's another thing- I am definitely biased against products that don't disclose the full ingredients lists. |

Nimue, I don't think there are silicones in the Natural Instinct sunscreen. I know what it feels like to have silicones in the cream
(like ZO Oclipse sunscreen). They feel horrible and break me out. Besides, I don't see any in the list.

Agree. I think this is also something people may want to include in reviews - what part of the country/world they live in. It does make a difference! |

It looks like there are a few silicones in this sunscreen. An easy way to spot them is to look for ingredients that end in -cone. However it looks like the kind that are derived from silica or sand. That and the way the sunscreen might be formulated could explain why it might not act like the typical silicones for you. |

Apparently that's an older ingredient list, the NI formula has since been changed and they haven't disclosed the full ingredients yet, only the actives. |

Do you want to try the new reformulated body block with 19% zinc oxide? Be wary of getting devita anywhere near your eyes. If you want to use it on your face, I recommend still using a different physical sunscreen in the eye area. I haven't tried the new version, but based on my experience of the old version, devita may not be moisturizing enough for you... It's the lightest sunscreen ever.
Based on your preferences, I think you'll like trukid sunscreen. It's thicker and richer than burnout. Initially, it's a little white but that goes away when you massage it in.

YES, Sorry but it drives me crazy how many daytime skin care products and sunscreens add in citrus EO's! I realize that they are low on the list, but as concentrated as they are you only use drops per oz. of product! GRRR

I'm not worried about it. It would be more of a concern if trukid didn't also have 20% zinc oxide... And it's probably a very small amount, jusy to give it a nicer scent. |

Really? Wow. Which burnout was that? That's so interesting because for me it's the opposite, it calms my skin. Like after a shower if my skin's a little pink putting on the burnout kids calms it down, gets rid of any hint of redness and feels great. Burnout is my number 1 choice for sensitive skin (as opposed to say, devita, trukid, keys, etc which all have those pesky essential oils) I apply burnout super generously around my eyes and it's never irritated my eyes. |

It was the Kids version for me, Nimue. This was when my skin was really flaring up badly. Not sure why, as I normally don't have issues, but then again when my skin was really acting up I had trouble with all of my normal products burning. |
