I know I cant be the only one who does this....if I buy a product that doesn't work for me (and I cant return it) I will put it in my closet, then months down the road I'll eventually toss it.
Some how it makes me feel better to throw it away several months later instead of tossing it right away???? |

I´m the same. I can not throw it away straight after realising it doesn´t work for me. That is just because the memory of paying for it is too vivid to allow me to do that lol... and deep inside I just hope that the product works for me in a few weeks maybe or for someone I care for. |

You can use creams that do not work on face as hand creams or even on your body. I bought Valmont Factor III cream and didn't like the way if feels on my face so I use it as a hand cream and my hands love it! |

Hair products are my vice. I buy so many because of all the promises they make to turn my fine limp hair into a lion's mane. Nothing works - so I end up with cupboards full of products - and, yes, this makes me feel terribly guilty, so guilty that I don't like to throw them out, so they just sit there cluttering up my life. |

I'm the same way... At one point I actually had a huge bin filled with various hair and skin care products that didn't work for me. A colleague at work told me that woman's shelters accept open beauty products, so I donated them.
The next time I have a pricier item that my face doesn't like, I think I will give it a try on my hands. Why didn't I think of that??? |

I do the same thing. I hate throwing the products out, so I put them in a box in my cupboard. I will go through the box every several months and if anything has expired I will pitch it. It feels like such a waste to throw it out. |

I do the same even use face creams I don't care for on feet while sleeping with socks
I also use eye creams that cause my eyes to tear (most) above the lip or as cuticle cream. It just feels like such a horrible waste to pitch them out as I move on to the next product! |

I don't discard them right away and sometimes I even use them again when I hear this or that is good and I still have them around. I have them max a year in some cases, but vitamin C and stuff like that could spoil with air I do throw right away. So sad |

I totally agree if it's gone "off" it hits the trash really quick! It's so pathetic to have to throw stuff out, I think it proves we are a bunch of product junkies that buy too much around here! I know I have been trying to be good and not buy so many tempting goodies! |

You are good. I have been very bad, but I just put myself on a no buy (other than sunscreen and Retin A which is a must IMO). |

I know those are staples although I will be buying my Retin A finally in about a month! It's really hard not to splurge when something sounds just too good to pass on, it really takes major self control doesn't it? |

I give them away to someone who has a different skin type or someone who is adventurous and would love to try something new out. That way I dont feel bad about just throwing it away. And of course there is the use on your feet, hands, chest..... |

I keep them until they start to annoy me and I need my counterspace for something else. When I am in a mood for cleanup, these things better watch out! They will be the first to go. haha |

I seldom discard products that don't work on me because I always find alternative usage, like polishing leather shoes . |

Never thought of that.
I do not really have products that do not work as I try and get samples of everything before buying anything for the face at least.
But..I do have way too much body products like shower gels....but my excuse is I used to do sports pretty much every day and had to shower 5x extra times a week (as inline skating you get so sweaty skating outside your clothing is drenched and you are so yucky....and I had to take the bus back like that too
I'm trying to be better about buying hair products, but I use hair gel or cream every day as I have dry curly hair.
My excuse for having lots of foot creams is if I do not use foot creams (or just body lotion) 4x a week I eventually get very painful cracks in my heels and then it really hurts to walk.
I'm not getting anything for the next 2 months..we'll see how that goes.
But does it help that people just give me stuff all the time?
I just got a set of Occitane travel items for free today
-was at the store opening wine reception tonight |

I keep it until I find it 1-2 years after putting it aside and forgetting I even had it. |

Ha ha, I hate to see that. I can be sure many of us would have about 3 set or more of skin care products stashed away in their drawers.
Me too. I would hand them over to mom and my elder sisters hoping they will like it, though those stuff don't work for me. They may like it.
For some more left over stuff like toner, moisturiser, I apply onto other parts of my body, hands & feet etc. I also wash my body with my leftover facial cleaser. The feeling is not lavishing but regret & guilt. |

this is a hot topic of discussion! Yes I've had my fair share of products cluttering my life. Dermalogica smoothing cream ( i just threw it out finally... after 4 years! the cream turned very watery), Dr Haushka moisturising day lotion (using it for my arms/shoulders now), H2O+ marine moisturiser (using it on my neck, my face hates it)... the list goes on. I've even got a whole load of stuff from Nuskin which is older than 5 years and I wonder if i should still use them on my body... mud mask and all... but its almost a full bottle!!! What do you do?? |

oh yes on another note, this has been done on other beauty forum i know... but maybe EDS should start a SWAP forum where members can post up their beauty stuff (they can't use) and swap! But it does get tricky with shipping... i know this works well in Singapore for we're a small country. What do you guys think? |
