I have blackheads on my nose that don't seem to go away no matter what I do. I wash my face twice a day with a facial cleanser using a cellulose sponge, and follow it with an application of 8-2 AHA-BHA lotion. I do an apricot scrub exfoliation twice a week.. and my pores are still clogged and enlarged!!
I am so desperate to find a real solution. I've been looking into at home microdermabrasion kits like the EpidermxII, or the Obagi skin system. I have even had laser resurfacing done just on my nose there and it did nothing!
Someone please help! |

The absolute best product I've ever used to eleminate blackheads is the Wonderbar. If you're not afraid to go through the 'healing phase', you might want to try it. |

What are the products you are using (brand, actual name)? Maybe they are not the right products. |

Welcome littlepleasures
I would think you have an oily skin or combination skin?
To do list
1) do not use bar soaps. Use a reputable foaming gel cleanser like Obagi (I liked it because it is very gentle on the skin and also it is available at EDS); When you wash your face with foaming gel cleanser, make sure that you use warm water to open the pores and soften the pores. Do not use sponges for now as it will just irritate your skin much more.
2) Use an extracting tool for the blackheads but never use your hands to pluck it out of your skin (you can buy this at any drugstores)
3) Once the blackheards are removed by the extracting tool, use a toner to "balance the pH of your skin".
4) Use a moisturizer that is water-based or has natural ingredients.
5) Make sure that your face is clean of grime by washing it every single night.
6) avoid junk foods, eat more healthier and your skin will thank you for it.
7) drink lots of water to cleansing the body (and mind )...
Do not touch your face with your hands/fingers if they are dirty. Use tissue or handkerchief or something.....
I hope this helps

Blackheads result as oxidisation of the plug in the pore. Gross!
I think you need to use a toner to control the oil and to shrink the pores so that there isn't so much sebum to oxidise and turn black.
Witch hazel is really good but be careful about using it in the pure extract form as it is often based in alcohol and I found it really drying. That made the acne problem worse for me.
PSF Clarifying Toner was really nice! I found it tightened up my pores without over drying my skin. I find it really helpful for summer. |
