I've tried to search for info on this topic because I know it has been discussed. I want to make my own hydrating mist. I'd love to hear what I should put into it. I remember glycerine and rosewater mentioned before but what else? And in what amounts? TIA  |

Misting products can get expensive. Recently I bought plain rosewater at my local health food store and added glycerine to it. I find that I have been misting my face more during the day knowing I did not spend 18.00 for four ounces of mist. I think the 8 oz. rose water cost me 7.50. NICE  |

| they sell a gallon jug of body/hair moisturizing mist at wholesalesuppliesplus for like $13.00. you could leave it unscented or lightly scent it with a fragrance oil(body safe) essential oil or even your own perfume. i have bought it before and liked it. |

when buying rosewater, read the contents carefully - and if buying from Australia be careful of what you buy from the chemist. Basically, they just take rose oil and top it up with tap water. Who wants to spray chlorinated tap water on their face? A lot of the cheaper rose waters use lower grade rose oil too. If you want to make rosewater, buy a small bottle of pure rose essential oil and mix with distilled water.
Here is a great recipe for a homemade refreshing face spray for dry skin:
3oz distilled water
2 tsp aloe vera (again 100% pure)
1/2 tsp orange flower water
1 drop propolis tincture
1 drop neroli essential oil
1 drop rosemary essential oil
makes about 100ml and keeps in the fridge for 2 days. Shake before use.
For an oily skin spray, replace the orange flower water with witch hazel.
the secret to homemade sprays is to keep them fresh. this spray is one that is actually from Neals Yard Remedies.
PS: I am LOVING my JI D2O mist! It is wonderful. |

Thank you tiger_tim!! That was a most helpful post. I don't know if my Rose Water has distilled water in it or not. The price of rose oils are sooooo expensive. Do you have any suggestions on where to get good rose oil at a reasonable price?

I am not really "up" on where the best places are for buying quality essential oils, but I do know the ones from Neal's Yard are high quality. http://www.nealsyardremedies.com/
Because the best quality rose oils are very expensive and keeping in mind that essential oils only retain their heeling qualities for six months, it is often simpler to just buy it. I remember seeing some nice rose waters sold at Rosa y Fruta when I looked over her site. |

Since I adore anything with rose oil, my favourite misting water has got to be the rose hydrosol.www.av-at.com has of one the best quality rose hydrosol I've come across. If you are going to invest in a rose essential oil for the face, you would want the rose otto and not the rose absolute as that is solvent-extracted. It is unfortunate that truely good rose oil is so extravagantly priced but you only need the tiniest drop for a 50ml bottle.
Neroli hydrosol is another one that I really enjoy for my dry skin and it smells lovely too. I like the one from sevikay. Hydrosols work best when you rotate between a couple of different ones. HTH. |
