This is a really dumb question, I'm sure - and please feel free to tell me just how dumb it is - but what are the signs that a product is working to build collagen? Is there a tingle? Will your skin feel tight? Will it become smooth?

Sometimes I'm just not sure anything I'm using is building collagen because although I have some or all of the above effects from some products/gadgets, my skin will eventually return to what it was if I discontinue using the product/gadget.

I personally don't think there are any signs that your skin is building collagen when you apply any topical product. Meaning if a product tingles, stings, burns, etc. is doesn't mean anything collagen-wise. I think if one is building collagen then their skin will be softer, firmer, tighten and the skin will plump up a little to diminish some of the wrinkles. Me personally, I don't think any gadget you can buy for home use is going to build collagen. You would need things like lasers and even with those it takes months to build collagen.

ETA: I always go back and re-read these when I hear about the next latest and greatest miracle product. They are good reads for people who are interested.

Thanks Riley. I've been having a tightening feeling lately especially by my eyes and mouth and wondered if it meant anything. I'm very interested in elastin too.
