So, I need to buy more SKB for my serums. Anyone tried the new one from Skinactives, the Sea Kelp Ultramarine? What did you think of it?

Also, what color does this turn your Vit C serum?! It looks to be a bright blue in the container. |

I hadn't seen this until you mentioned it, ShastaGirl. For some reason, I don't think I'm getting their newsletter anymore - and I didn't even make a negative comment about them. It sounds intriguing especially when I read the positive reviews. I think I'd like to try it in my shampoo/conditioner. If you decide to try it, please let us know what you think. |

Is this their mixture? I'm just wondering if it's something Nanci will be offering at some point. |

Lactobacillus/kelp ferment filtrate, Porphyridium extract, Laminaria japonica extract, Arthrospira extract.
I looked up the prices on these [ lost the post as I got kicked out!!!! Grrrr]
Bottom line....Way way way over priced.
Sure it is lovely...maybe,...but at that price, it had better be. |

I ended up going with Lotioncrafters instead. I just couldn't find much feedback on the ultramarine version. |

I've tried it and my take is that it is probably no different to any other sea kelp ferment. It has the texture of hair gel and has obviously been dyed blue. It doesn't however colour anything you mix it with. The dye is very transparent. It's nice on the skin and dries on it then flakes if you use it neat.
It thickens creams a lot. I even used my bamix to mix it into my liquid emulsion and I still got tiny lumps so it takes some doing to dissolve it in water.
I use it standalone as a night-time eye gel and the skin tightening and moisturising properties are the best I've used of anything. But this could be typical of SKB in general and since I am using it in conjunction with several new items I can't be sure the moisturisation of my under-eye (which is stellar) is entirely from this one ingredient alone. Even though I'm happy with it I doubt I will repurchase. The price is very off putting and if other SKB are similar then I can't see any reason to pay that price. |

According to their newsletter, it is not blue dye. Rather one of the types of algae they use give it the blue tint. |

Interesting because it's a very artificial looking colour so I assumed it was a dye. |

Thanks NotMeNotYou. If it flakes, I don't want it because that's what I don't like about the SKB. |

Hi, Has anyone used SKB in powder form? I thought it would blend with my hemp oil, but it doesn't. Any suggestions? Thank you. |

I haven't ever bought the powder, Mars, but I bet it's water soluble, not oil soluble, if it's not blending with your oil. |
