Check out this:

http://www.google.com.au/search?q=Fyola+ultrasound+picture&hl=en&rlz=1T4GZAZ_en-GBAU316AU316&prmd=imvns&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=tqTFTsKlJKyTiQftxqDzDQ&ved=0CDkQsAQ&biw=792&bih=393&sei=vqTFTqTVNKG0iQfErtGFDg

The SQOOm and Fyola are definitely the same device. If you scroll down the page and click on the image of the water on the head of the device - you will see that it is exactly the same animation as on the SQOOM website.

I would purchase the Fyola. This is not the first time that devices get branded with different names.

Hi karenlee, that is exciting news about your chest wrinkles! I was wondering if you used any topicals with the SQOOM.

Hi karenlee,
Does the device operate at 1Mhz? I thought that was not appropriate for use on the face due to the deeper penetration. I think the Skindream Titanium uses 1Mhz also. I know we have had lots of discussions about this on EDS.

Yes, I wrote to Harrods and pointed out that the devices are exact in every way. As you can see from the reply, they insinuated that the Fyola is an inferior copy. I wrote back and pointed out that the Fyola seems to have been around longer than the Sqoom, so how could it be a copy. No reply on that, yet!

The only thing I can't argue with at this point because I have no knowledge of it, is that the Sqoom has superior interior components. It's possible, I guess, that Shick took on the device and upgraded the components when they rebranded it - the email from Harrods mentions that the Fyola does not have a titanium battery. I was a bit confused about that - did he mean head? See, it could be possible that the devices are identical except for the titanium bit (Shick may have decided to jump on the Skindream bandwagon, and upgrade this device with their technology).

And of course, they may be talking a load of crock - if it is just a battery upgrade, does that warrant doubling the price? Unless of course, the battery is crucial in delivering the right wavelengths etc.

Also, Harrods say the higher price is because two gels worth Ł96 are included in the package. I didn't think this was fair to include the cost of these gels, they should be free, or optional. For example, I rarely use the cleaning gel/cycle as I prefer my Clarisonic for cleansing (must add Clarisonic to my list of keepers! Even hubby has one of his own!)

BTW - I asked Shick the same question re: the Fyola and never got a reply. I then emailed again some days later saying I had bought the SQOOM and asked for advice on treating my injured rotator cuff and a creaky knee. I received an email the very next day, filled with great info (I can pass on if anyone wants) so a big thumbs up to them for customer service re: product info.

Editing to add my full device spec:

I have been using, well, all sorts of things! Laughing I'm a total product slut, I have to admit.

When I got the device I was determined to use only the included gels as a test, but after 2 days boredom set in!

However, I did stick mostly to using the gel only on my chest for the first week - as I mentioned at the start of the thread, I tend to neglect my chest, can't be bothered spreading cream all over me and feeling sticky afterwards. So I had no problem in using only the supplied gel, and now, given the results I've had there, I am thinking of repurchasing (I wasn't going to at first, as I have a load of stuff already that I like).

Quote:

Which ingredients are included in the SQOOM-xcential/hyaGel?

The SQOOM hyaGel includes skin-friendly and natural ingredients only. Without antidegradants or skin-irritating emulsifiers and especially developed for the SQOOM applications. The main effective agent is hyaluronic acid - our skin's moisture deposit. Other natural ingredients like aloe inner-leaf gel or sulforaphane - a the new innovative ingredient - support the gentle but significant effect of this innovative gel.

Why particulate hyaluronic acid?

Introducing hyaluronic acid into the deeper skin layers is problematic. When applied, only a small percentage of the substance enters the deeper skin layers as the hyaluronic acid particle is quiet large and bulky. Thus, only the upper skin layers benefit from the tightening effect for a short time, as the hyaluronic acid swells due to the skin moisture. This effect lasts only shortly and is not completely satisfactory in terms of beauty care.

The SQOOM xcential/hyaGel circumvents this limitation. Specialised bacteria break up the hyaluronic acid particles into smaller parts before these are integrated in the gel. This special, carefully and controlled divided hyaluronic acid is the particulate hyaluronic acid. With SQOOM, this substance enters the essential deeper skin layers much easier and to a larger extent as compared to the common hyaluronic acid. It fills hollow spaces generated by skin aging processes. The particulate hyaluronic acid also offers a high water storage capacity to thoroughly provide the skin with moisture.

They advise you to either wipe your face afterwards and apply moisturiser, or leave the gel on as a mask overnight and wash off in the morning - which is what I do for my chest.

I then found this medical report on the internet, and I purchased some Skinceuticals Blemish and Age Defense to apply under the gel.

Quote:
Patients were treated with either Ultrasound alone for ten minutes 2.2Hz at a setting of 2.0 or a combination of Salicylic Acid (2.5%) applied to the skin followed immediately by 10 minutes of ultrasound to the each side of the face. Treatments were repeated biweekly for a total of 8 treatments.

Physician-graded scores demonstrated statistical improvement in the combined treatment of 2.5% salicylic acid and ultrasound in:

• uneven pigmentation,
• fine wrinkles,
• skin laxity,
• lack of fullness,
• overall improvement,
• brown spot size,
• brown spot colour,
• pore size

The treatment group of ultrasound alone improved in the category of fine wrinkles.

When a glycolic acid was added after the ultrasound treatment significant improvement in skin elasticity and skin hydration was noted.

Based on our findings there does not seem to be a significant change in the collagen and elastin content or epidermal thickness as a result of the ultrasound device we used. Though we did not notice any objective improvement, there does seem to be a subjective improvement. In particular, the skin treated with ultrasound alone appeared debrided of its horny layer, was smoother, without ulceration and more aesthetically pleasing.

(Note - their findings compared using ultrasound on dead pig (I think) tissue where they saw no collagen improvements, to live people where improvements were noted).

My routine (just developed yesterday) is going to be the following for the next week to gauge the additional topicals: (I am using the W mode for the first time with Phyto + in the am and Age Defense in the pm on my chest as I have sun-damage discolouration there)

Quote:
W - whitening mode
L - lifting mode
M - massage mode
N - nutrition mode.

MORNING

Wash face with gentle cleanser and water.

W - 4 min Apply Vitamin C, then Phyto +
L - 4 min Apply hyaGel, leave on (chest)
Face, wipe and apply moisturiser

EVENING

Use the Tua Trend with both wands for 20 min while watch TV or surfing the net.

Wash face with Clarisonic.

M - 4 min Ultrasound mode only with pure Aloe Vera gel; wash off
W - 4 min Apply Age Defence with a few drops of Dermaquest B5 serum for glide.
N - 4 min Apply hyaGel, leave on face and chest

Note - the Fyola instructions say no more than 20 min per day of ultrasound.

I'm not entirely sure about using some of the Skinceuticals on top, you must not use anything with oil or silicon as it will block the ultrasound. I use their Vit C AOX20, but I'm not sure if it has oil in it. Likewise, I'm not sure about my Dermaquest, but I have these products already and as I can't afford to repurchase the hyagel at this moment (Ł79 for 50ml) I need to experiment.

On the other hand, I wonder if this is a good opportunity to wean myself off this crutch I have of needing about 5 expensive products at a time! Next month, I will probably buy another hyaGel or the Despot (for skin blemishes) and I may try their moisturising lotion as they all seem to have nice, fairly pure ingredients.

Because, when all is said and done, I've used the Skinceuticals and a host of other pricy products before, and I've used the Tua for long periods (daily for a month or so), and none of these have delivered what I'm seeing now.

If anyone is considering purchasing the Fyola, this is a great video to watch...they connect the Fyola with a sensor to a screen showing the waves produced by the different 'cleaning, wrinkle, nutrition, etc...' device settings.

Great video, good find!

I do advise people contemplating the Fyola to do their research first. I don't think it has a titanium head - I did a search but couldn't find any mention of it - and I don't know how important that is in terms of getting results.

Blackhawk, I don't know as I have not had any fillers/botox. I have found the SQOOM people very informative and quick to respond so it may be worth asking them.

I have a UP5 Ultrasound. It has a titanium head - or I should say DID have. The titanium has now all worn off with use (I've had it for a few years). The UP5 is another Korean device and has all the treatment modes that the SQOOM has.

I watched part of the skindream video posted on page 1 by Cooking Katy and the woman in the video says that with a titanium head, you get 100% of sound waves transferred to the skin whereas with aluminum, you get 80-85%...then she says with the titanium you get 25% more sound waves but I don't know how she did her math. I would think that you would get 15-20% more sound wave transfer.

If the titanium wears off of Keliu's device maybe we can buy some liquid titanium and paint the heads.Smile

Here is a picture taken in 2009. I was actually photographing my face, not my shoulders, but this shows my crinkling. I had a very deep V wrinkle also, not visible in this photo. By Dec 2010, I was no longer wearing any kind of V or scoop neck top.

Image

Here is the same shoulder, taken this morning about an hour after waking, 2 weeks after using SQOOM

Image

My chest this morning, the same one that was too wrinkled in 2010 to wear low cut tops

KarenLee, All I can say is wow! and thanks! All I want for Christmas are results like yours!

The fyola has an 'ion' head according to one of the images on the web. I found a page describing what an ion is but have no clue how it compares to the titanium. Hope someone with engineering knowledge will chime in.

I didn't think I could see much happening in my face yet, even though my husband thinks so, but now comparing these two pics, I can see a little something starting to improve around the jowls. Here is a pic I took 2 months ago, in Sept:

Image

Here is a pic from this morning:

I think the pouching (my main reason for buying gadget upon gadget) is lessening, and my skin in general is looking a little fuller. (I have always suffered from dehydrated skin, no matter how many v.expensive quality products I have layered on.)

MaryClaire, my husband has started badgering me for facials! Laughing He is totally sold on this gadget since it fixed his shin splint injury.

Daler, the SQOOM site says it has a titanium transducer. Husband say transducer will be the bit that transmits the power, ie the head - although he says it could be mixed with something else, ie it does not state it is 100% titanium.

I guess that this is one of the best reasons for taking before and after photos. There seems to be a really noticeable improvement in both your shoulders and your face, Karen.

Bet you're really glad you took them now - you must be thrilled! Very Happy

majorb, yes, I took the earlier photos when embarking on a new gadget or skincream, but there was never any 'after' because none of my other gadgets made any visible difference. (The Sept pic was supposed to be an 'after', but there was nothing to see - and now it serves as a 'before' Laughing ).

Which is why I am unloading them all on ebay/to my sister!
