I didnt think my photo would post.
So this is my awful skin. As you can see I have scarring, hyperpigmentation, large pores and am really looking to improve my skin to a noticable glowing improvement.

Hi Luvskincare,
What are you currently using for your skin care now? Also, have you consulted a dermatologist regarding your concerns?

Thank you for posting your pic; I know it takes a lot of courage!!

I am currently using purpose face wash (sometimes with the clarisonic brush)
vitamin c serum (from my dermatologist)
45spf physical sunscreen
and at night I use the cervae cream

I have been to many derms and have had facials, tca/jessner peels

I really have not seen improvements
I am considering laser this fall but I am not so sure

Wow! Yo u've really tried a lot of different things. So, you've not had much success with chemical peels, etc.? Does your derm have you using a retinoid? What type of laser are you considering?

Have you considered consulting a plastic surgeon? Sometimes, it's good to get another physician's perspective.

I really have not had success with peels. Maybe they were to weak. I have had 3 15%tca/jessner peels.Peeled alot, but no difference.
I am seeing a new derm in October and considering doing a deeper peel or the active fx laser.
I dont user retin-a because I used it for many months and I felt that my skin looked worse so I quit.
The scarring/pigmentation are my biggest issues. I hopefully would like to find something that could help.

Have you looked at dermarolling?

Editing to add: I think you probably think your skin looks FAR worse than most people do....I didn't see any pigmentation, and the scarring really isn't that bad at all. Please don't be too hard on yourself!

Thank you so much for the nice words Bethany.
It kinda made me cry. I have been worrying/obsessing about my skin thinking my skin looks really bad. I really do have splotchy skin but its hard for me to capture in photos.
I have been thinking that I should either try Obagi or Is clinical.

I didn't see any pigmentation, either, so I would not go the Obagi route, as that is what it works on. I know some people claim to have results on scarring with copper peptides, but I would research it thoroughly as there are pros and cons. IS Clinical nor Obagi will take care of the scarring. I am thinking laser would be your best bet. What does your derm advise?

I would also suggest trying Dermarolling - if you give this a go, wait a good three to four months before considering a laser treatment. If you decide to have a laser treatment you need to start using a good AHA product to prep the skin.

I also think a consultation with a derm is in order - let us know what he/she says.

Hi, luvskincare! I agree with Bethany 100% that your skin looks worse to YOU than to everyone else. One thing that noticably helped my skin is microdermabrasion. When I started getting them, I purchased a package deal of 6 treatments. It took 3 or 4 treatments before I started seeing improvement, but it REALLY helped the appearance of my skin. You have to keep it up...once every two weeks. For me it was really worth it.
Another suggestion is perhaps to switch derms. Get someone else's professional opinion. Just a thought. Smile

It does not look bad! I am not seeing any wrinkles or pigmentation, just a few small acne scars?

Although I have only rolled twice and it is too soon to see results, after seeing great before and after pics online and on acne.org, I would absolutely try dermarolling.

If you feel you have pigmentation issues, I would try Nia24 or Canyon Ranch with the same active ingredient. Products from these lines have really evened out my skin tone to completely uniform, and even faded 2 moles (the are still there, just skin toned now). The problem with the nia24 products is that some people including me tend to break out with them, I do much better with Canyon Ranch. It's spendy but found on ebay often for a decent price. If you try them, give them at least 2 months to see results..it takes a while.

Keep us posted and let us know how you do!!
