8oz is quite a large tub and probably the largest that could be shipped economically and without a cardboard box. Once you're talking boxes the cost of shipping goes up exponentially.

The shipping rates from Taiwan to anywhere in the world with EMS...and much cheaper by regular post.

Taiwan post charges by the exact gram. They are very accurate about these sorts of things. There is not this ~gap~ where you are stuck paying more for shipping less.

Angelfire & NotMeNotYou, do you think there's anything helpful in applying the water kombu & wakame has soaked in? I throw it in soups sometimes, and what you wrote here has been ringing in my head. I mix small batches of vit c, msm & gelatin for one time applications and I wonder if I should bother using this instead of distilled water.
I realize that it won't come close to the effect of fermented/SKB but I'm still curious.

Also, I'm not sure whether I'm buying a different type of seaweeds, but I don't find either to be smelly or distasteful. I sometimes end up snacking on a little (although the kombu is a little tougher), and haven't found it too unpleasant. I might add that the soaking water doesn't come out slimey either, so maybe filling to the top is too much, or there is a difference.
Or it could be my tastebuds aren't as refined as yours, lol!

I am admittedly sensitive to the taste and smell of kelp. I find it difficult to eat. There is no harm in using the water, I generally use only enough water to rehydrate the kelp which is possibly why the water gets slimey for me. The aginate leaches into it thickening it slightly. The only thing to be mindful of however is that if you are using tap water then the sanitising chemicals and metals in the water will be present which is not the case with distilled water. It also won't be sterile the way distilled water is and use of a preservative becomes imperative.

I tend to do my best to use scraps in various ways when it comes to cooking (stock, etc), so I guess my habits are trying to spill their way into my skincare routine. It seems a little tedious for probably not much of a return so I may just skip this one. Thanks for humoring me though! Smile

Sorry I know this is a bit of an old topic. But could you tell me where you bought the sea kelp from. Its crazy expensive here in th UK. And its seems to be the only thing that is moisturising my face, body and hair. I know using it all over even spraingly is helping my pigmentation and dry skin so would love to get a bulk supply. Could you please tell me where you are buying this from.

Many thanks
Rocky

Hi Rocky, I know this is from years ago but did you manage to source some SKB in the UK? Am looking but not having much luck Sad Thank you x
