Hi ladies,
can any of you recommend a good moisturiser, preferably with SPF, that is suitable for acne-prone but dry/combination skin? I don't have oily skin so the regular moisturisers for acne-prone skin never seem to do the job. My skin gets very dry, even if I just use neutrogena gentle wash, so I could really use a good moisturiser that doesn't break me out, yet gives my skin what it needs...
Thanks! |

I have found that insufficient hydration causes me to break out, sometimes in those big hard boils. Perhaps you could try to hydrate your skin by using a rosewater and glycerin toner followed by a non-comedogenic moisturiser. I find that products with spf tend to break me out so I use a loose powder with spf instead of a moisturiser with spf. Easy to re-apply throughout the day as well, like say, before heading out for lunch. And if your face wash is too drying, change it to something for normal/sensitive skin instead? |

You're right, chloes. I tend to break out, too, if my skin is too dry. I think the skin overcompensates and produces too much oil when it's too dry.
Right now I'm using Yonka nettoyant gel cleanser, and I really like it even though it's drying. But, to be honest, everything dries me out even just washing with water.
That's why I need a good moisturiser. |

Don't wash your face too much unless neccessary I guess. The water we used normally contains chlorine and they do dry our skin. So I guess Mosturize is needed. |

This is my skin type. I have luck with HA & Oil. I also use Cerave cream on any extra dry spots and around my eyes. |

Hyaluronic acid serum mixed a carrier oil.
I mix in my hand 3-4 drops of HA and 1-2 drops of oil. For oil I'm currently using a mix of Kukui & Pomegranate. Oils can be trial and error to find what works best for you but there are so many options there that there really is something for everyone.
I buy my serums and oil from Garden of Wisdom. |

I have the same skin type as you. I have acne / bumps on my forehead and I'm dry around the nose and cheeks.
What I have found to be useful is to only wash my face at night and in the morning, to rinse with water and toner.
I've recently switched to dermalogica and have seen improvements in the last three weeks. I'm currently using the precleanse, special cleansing gel and multi-active toner. I'm also using the sheer tint spf 15 moisturizer. I am considering the daily microfoliant as I have been using a sample of it and like it so far (I would only use this 3 times a week instead of daily to avoid my skin from drying out). My skin is definitely less congested and my skin no longer feels tight and dehydrated.
Hope this helps. |

PS - Dermalogica's essential cleansing solution is pretty nice too (less drying than the special cleansing gel). |

I use tazorac, which doubles as my anti-aging product.
I dont have a HG SS but currently I'm using Obagi rosaclear. |

Thanks, girliegirl. I don't have any rosacea, so have to keep looking for a good sun screen.
Does Tazorac not dry you out? |

I don't have rosacea either, I just like that SS. It has great protection and it doesn't irritate my skin or cause breaks outs.
I've been using taz forever, I tolerate it well. |
