Hello,
I'm currently hoping to treat my icepick acne scars on cheeks with the Obagi Nu-Derm kit/system. However, after 2 months of treatment, I haven't seen any improvements on my scars/pores while enduring the redness and peeling constantly. I was wondering if using a Derma Roller in conjunction with this kit will speed up the repairing process. Any help and input is greatly appreciated.
Thanks much! |

Hi! As a Nuderm user, I think it works great for hyperpigmentation, but I don't think it's very effective for acne scars. I've never used a dermaroller, but hopefully those who have, will chime in and give you some advice.
Take care! |

Nu Derm will not do anything for icepick scars, unfortunately. What type of dermarolling are you wanting to do, the longer needle or the shorter needle for penetrating the products? I personally would never use the shorter needle to penetrate any Nu Derm product in deeper. |

As Kims stated, I don't think Obagi is for deep ice-pick scarring. Obagi is more for hyperpigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles, and firmness. Deep scars like ice pick scars do better with medium to deep peels or tca applied to just the scar with a toothpick. |

Hey Ladies,
I have a few shallow acne scars due to the cystic acne that I had in my early 20's. While Nuderm is an awesome product, it did nothing for the scars. In fact, because retin a initially thins the dermis, they were a little more prominent.
I've tried having them filled, but this was a very short-term fix because the filler disippated quickly (for me.) |

Thank you all for your responses and advices on this. I'm thinking to quit on the Obagi system and have consulted with some cosmetic surgeons on the treatment plans. So far, I have options as dermabrasion, CO2 laser, and microlaser peels and profractional laser treatments. Not quite sure which is the best treatment plan to go with since I have a strong feeling that the physicians are only selling the products/tools they own.
Thanks again! |
