I've been using Hemp Seed Oil as my body lotion for two weeks now. In the beginning it was the best thing, my skin was so moisturized and nice.
Now, though, I'm noticing my skin is getting dried out again during the day.Why is that? Did it just stop working? Why?

Do you exfoliate regularly? If not maybe thats all you need to freshen up your skin so it can easily absorb the oil again. |

Penta I am just wondering where you store your hemp seed oil. It requires refrigeration. The first time I got it, I left it out at room temperature and it went off very fast.
Or have you changed your body wash or body sunscreen recently?
Just throwing up some ideas. I hope you figure things out! |

Penta,
Just a question are you applying it over damp skin? |

GirlieGirl - I drybrush every day
Circus - I keep it in the fridge, I haven't changed my body wash.
DM - No, but I didn't before either.
Is this a common thing to happen? |

Penta Hemp seed oil (or any carrier oil) will absorb better on damp skin.
To truly moisturize skin, you will need both water and oil. Water will help hydrate, and the oil helps lock in water and prevent it from evaporating off. The water part can be plain water - damp skin, or spritz dry skin with water/hydrosol. If your skin needs extra help with hydration, humectants like glycerin or hyaluronic acid will also help.
It is the "balance" of water and oil for your own skin you need to figure out. Hths! |

Penta,
You may not have needed to use it on damp skin during the humid months of summer, but if your climate is cooling off and fall is kicking in with less humidity that may have caused the change in efficacy. You can do as circus recommended to dampen your skin before applying the oil and see if your results change again. |

DM - that is a very good point, actually. It did get less humid and colder here. It's not that it bothers me so much, it's just that I was surprised why it would just stop working when it had worked wonders before.
Circus - thanks for the tip. I'll try it out.
Thank you, ladies! |
