... have any of you ever researched purchasing an ex (or new!) salon machine?

I have researching the Palacia (thinking of replacing my Dermawand), and found some sites which sell professional salon machines for £1000 - £2,000.

While that seems very expensive, would it not replace several gadgets? I probably already own about £800 worth of separate gadgets, and I was thinking maybe I should sell them on eBay and just buy a proper one-machine-does all (face and body!) item.

Has anyone done this/researched this yet? (I'm planning to do so over the next few weeks, so I will report back).

Thanks
KL

I think you need to post this new gadget so that we can read some more information.

I use Clarisonic and no longer have my Dermawand, where I think I want it again. I see baby quasar, tanda, and I'm not sure if I want them or not.

Hi Skincare - I was actually referring to proper salon machines, not hand-held devices for home use.

I have spent some time researching the different types of treatments, namely:

* Ultrasound
* Radio Frequency
* High Frequency
* Photo rejuvination
* Microcurrent stimulation

(I think that's all of them, please add if I've left any out)

ULTRASOUND

To kick off, I found this machine to be very interesting:

Environ DF Ionzyme Facial Machine

Quote:
The Environ ® Ionzyme ® DF machine is a patent pending machine which provides facial treatments that are at the forefront of scientific skin care. This machine introduces the use of active Sonophoresis and intensified Iontophoresis treatments, and is therefore possibly the most advanced penetrant-enhancing machine available in the world today. It was designed by Dr Des Fernandes, a prominent Cape Town plastic surgeon who is a pioneer in his field. In the 1980s he was one of the first to use Vitamin A in high enough doses for a genuine, measurable effect on the quality of the skin. This facial treatment is specifically for the client who wants a result-driven facial and wants to achieve a healthy looking skin. An excellent treatment for the client who is considering cosmetic surgery and also for those who have had their surgery and are now wishing to maintain that result. This treatment is designed to stimulate maximum thickening of the skin, normalisation and improvement of collagen and elastin, better control of pigment production, restoration of normal blood flow and proper oxygenation of the skin.

Quote:
The Ionzyme DF Machine employs the combination of two highly sophisticated methods:

Pulsed Iontophoresis – involving the use of a specific pulsed electrical current to facilitate greater penetration of vitamins into the skin. With conventional iontophoresis, changes are very much slower, whereas with the Ionzyme DF Machine, the skin looks and feels younger within two or three treatments.

Low Frequency Sonophoresis – involving the use of sound waves to transport vitamin molecules through the skin. Low Frequency Sonophoresis is up to a thousand times more effective than the conventional ultrasound. Environ is the pioneer in both the use of Low Frequency Sonophoresis and the combination of both methods within one treatment.

The treatments are designed to stimulate maximum thickening of the skin, normalisation and improvement of collagen and elastin, better control of pigmentation production, restoration of normal skin blodd flow and proper oxygenation of the skin. One should therefore schedule a treatment at least once or twice a week. A series of at least 6 treatments are recommended to achieve desired results, however up to 24 treatmets can be recommended depending on the age and the problem that is treated. Thereafter, plan at least one maintenance treatment a month with an occasional booster course of one per week.

I haven't found a definitive UK price for this, but I found a 3-yr old listing in SA Rands which works out to roughly £2,500.00 for the machine.

I am now looking into the Indiba system, which apparently uses the most sophisticated RF available. I'll post the specs and price later when I have gathered all the info.
