Having just purchased several items from the Environ range, I sent the following query to them:

Quote:
The therapist at Boots was unable to answer my question regarding using Environ (C-Quence range) with copper peptides. Do you have advice in this area? I am currently using my copper in the morning and C-Quence in the evening, because I understand that Vit C neutralises copper; however recent thinking is that C does not penetrate as deeply as copper so it should be fine to layer these with about 20 min between each application. I was wondering if you (ie Environ) has done any research into this area?

The reply I received was as follows:

Quote:
First of all, the Vitamin C in Environ C-quence is one which has been rendered fat soluble by the addition of four phosphate arms. This will neither bind, nor interfere with the copper peptides.

Dr Des Fernandes is the expert on evidence based effects of ingredients and I quote to you from the answer he sent me today :

" Copper peptides came into prominence many years ago as a possible way of advancing healing. There is no substantial scientific evidence of them having significant effects on tightening skin however they have been extensively used by USA doctors. I have never seen any photographic/ histochemical or histology studies to confirm the claims. Strange that they just bypass the need for real evidence. I would question the need to use any copper peptides at all. I would not include them in our products or use them on my skin. I need more evidence than some mild effects on wound healing. If she has any evidence of effects then I would welcome them.
On the other hand the peptides we use have photographic, histochemical and histologic evidence.

The next point is that she is confusing ascorbic acid with VCIP. Ascorbic acid is very acidic and that would inactivate the copper peptides so they should not used together. It is true that l-ascorbic acid doesn't penetrate well through the skin which is not surprising because it is water soluble which makes it difficult despite the pH. That's why we moved away from it and were the pioneers in using ascorbyl tetra-isopalmitate (also called hexyl-decyl- ascorbyl palmitate in USA) in cosmetic creams. This penetrates fantastically more effectively than ascorbic acid and releases l-ascorbic acid INTO the cell. The C-Quence can easily be used at the same time as the copper peptides - there are no conflicts. I would drop copper peptides until I had more hard factual evidence of their activity. It puzzles me so much that people blindly convince themselves they are using effective products without any real evidence.
I believe everything should be evidence based.
The Focus Frown serum should be used before application of any of the other other products."

If you happen to have some substantial scientific evidence for the use of the copper peptides, we would really appreciate getting that . Unfortunately many unsubstantiated claims are made for products and molecules. Paper (and Pixels even more so ) are patient, and unless one has substantial evidence of benefit it is not wise to recommend the use of a specific product. If one does not follow this line of though and action, it is easy to get drowned in a sea of expensive claims and promises.
I hope this is helpful
Kind regards
Dr Ernst Eiselen

So - I thought was interesting and I'd share.
