Hi
I'm thinking of going to Hungary in March to get porcelain veneers done. It is about a third of the price to the UK and the dentists there are very well trained.
Has anyone had porcelain veneers done? Are you happy/unhappy about the result?
One last question - the dental hygenist told me that people with veneers always get discoloured gums above the veneers - has anyone seen that or had that?
Best wishes

Having a family in the field (dentists and assistants) I have had the best of dental care. Before I ever put porcelain veneers on my teeth I would have to have very good reasons to do so. If your teeth are very undesirable to you thats one thing. But, don't forget they have to drill a way at your natural tooth to put the veneers on. Also, unless a dentist is very artistic they can look thick and fake. Sometimes there can be a little ridge at the gumline that looks darker. When you have veneers it is very important to take extra good care of your teeth. If you get recession the veneers will look aweful.
As far as picking a dentist, that is the hard part. An excellent dentist with a great practice would tell you if they thought it was a poor idea for you. Unfortunately they are few and far between. Don't always go with the lowest price. You get what you pay for. If you decide on Veneers get references on the doctor you choice.
Before I picked a dentist to do cosmetic dentistry on me I would call a Periodontists office with a great reputation. Periodontists are extremely picky about the work done in their patients mouth.
Hope you make the best decision for you. |

Hi Winnie
Thanks for your reply - it was very thoughtful and well considered and has made me think very carefully about having them done. They are not too bad to look at but I'd really like a Hollywood Smile but worried about the risks.
Best wishes
