I'm 23 and am already noticing fine lines on my forehead, around my mouth, and under my eyes. I don't have insurance, so I want to buy it from one of those online stores like inhousepharmacy or one like it. Any suggestions? Also, I've never used it before, so how and when would I apply it? And would amlactin moisturizer be good to wear with it? Overlook my ignorance. I'm new to all of this, but I want to get to my skin before it looks too old. It always looks dull and dry, and can be prone to breakouts.

satrt with 0,025% cream. after washing your face, wait 20min then apply a thin layer at night only. repeat 3 times a week, slowly introduing your skin to the product, then once evry other night. also try alldaychemist.com for retin A

Amlactin contains a pretty high percentage of Lactic Acid an AHA, it's not a good idea to use them together at the same time of the day. You might want to use something that's not also exfoliating when just starting. Smile

Would A Ret be the correct one? The generic name is Tretinoin Gel USP, and its strength is 0.025%.

What moisturizer would you suggest to go along with it (as well as anything else that I might want to add to my nightly routine)?

Oh, one more question. I was going to buy one of these for my mother too. She's never used retin A, and is a few years shy of 50. Would I get her the same type?

For your Mom a tretinoin cream would probably be a better choice.

If you use a moisturizer over the RA be sure to wait an hour after applying the RA to give it time to work.

Hi -

You may want to look at this study I posted a while back on retin A. It states that .025% is as effective as .1% with less irritation.

Based on that, I would definitely start with .025%. For someone in their 20's with oiler skin, the gel would be a good choice. Your Mom may do better with the cream if her skin is more dry.

Oops, didn't answer this question in my earlier reply. If your skin is dry and you think you need a moisturizer, you may want to try the retin A cream. Then you can skip the moisturizer over it.

If you still want to go with a moisturizer, then you can apply it after the retin A. You should wait 30-60 minutes ideally. Just pick a moisturizer that appeals to you - there are tons of reviews on EDS. Maybe get a few sample sizes until you find one you like.
