I'm a new .025 Retin A user in my fifth day of using it every night. So far, only my chin has gotten really red. Should I skip applying the cream to my chin until that clears up or forge ahead, using it every night?

By the way, I don't see a definitive answer about using .025 every night or skipping a night.

A final dumb question...is the skin supposed to peel or is that just an unpleasant side effect some of us get? If it's not peeling, is it really doing the job?

I would not apply it to the really red area. Also, you can start slower, every other night or even every third night, etc. You don't have to start out using it every night.

Not everyone peels from Retin A, especially at the 0.025%. Even it you don't (and you still may as it takes a few weeks to "kick in") the Retin A is definitely still working.

I totally agree with everything rileygirl said.

Ultimately it's best if you can to work up to nightly use, but so long as you don't have more than 2 nights off between applications it will still be effective, though it will take longer to work.

Thanks for the replies. I feel like I may need a Retin A support group to get through this. Razz

no you should not. the redness shows the A retin works on these area, and if you have not serious red or peel, you should use it, after maybe 1 month, your skin can bear the a retin and your skin will be better and better.
