Ok, so I gathered some info few months ago and I have been using Retin A (.025%) and HQ 4% for my acne and some scars. I recently moved to a hot and humid place (yay,Florida!) and my skin is acting really weird. I have very oily skin (like if I don't use blotting papers, I'd be dripping oil everywhere-oily!). I have acne, very very very enlarged pores (it's like small caves on my face!). I have scars from acne....basically, you name it and I've got it! However, recently my skin is also showing signs of dryness apart from being oily, like I can see dry/flakey lines around my mouth, eyes, forehead, etc. Can anyone tell me what I need to do? My acne is 60% under control now but still get a couple/few breakouts every week. I basically want my acne to be gone, also trying to lighten (hence, the HQ), and want clear skin. Can anyone help me with a regime? I've read on OCM, LA peels (which I have done about 4-5 times a few months ago), etc. but I can't decide where to start and how to incorporate it into my daily routine. I almost never use a moisturizer as I feel I break out more with even oil free ones but I do use a sunscreen. I also use a neutrogena for acne foundation or BE foundation (almost every day) coz I would not dare going out w/o it . I do use an exfoliating mud mask once a week, use a garnier cleanser. I tried using an organic witch hazel toner but it makes me more oily, don't know why . I just started using a 15% vitamin C serum yesterday. I'm 26 btw. Can any one help me form a routine that can give me beautiful skin, please |

Hi SkInfatuation,
I had the same issues with my skin. I live in MA tho. I'm 27 and my skin is normal to oily. It used to be very oily, to the point where I had to blot my face 2-3 times per day and reapply my makeup in the middle of the day... After some research here on EDS, i switched up my skincare routine and started to take supps/vits. As result, my skin is way less oily, looks great, no more annoying blackheads on my T-zone and my hair is benefiting from it too!! I found that cleansing gels and soaps dried out my skin and put the oil production into overdrive Cleansing creams and milks are a whole lot better, effective for oily skin and work awesome for me. No more dry skin around my mouth and eyes, etc!!... Soooo, here's my skincare routine:
AM
1. DR Hauschka's Cleansing Milk for dry skin (even though, my skin is oily) and alternate with Burts Bees Chamomile and Soap Bark cleansing cream (start one when the other runs out)
2. Sesbellot 99% eye mink oil
3. Mario Badescu's Rose/aloe/herbs facial spray
3.Sesbellot 99% mink oil as all-over-face moisturizer (the wait 10 mins before applying makeup)
If I have a breakout, I put on MB's healing powder underneath my Physician's Formula pressed powder (which, I feel, the both contribute to my skin's better health/ appearance) BTW, i always finish off my skincare with light patting all over the face (sort of like when guys pat aftershave lotion on their faces), and I never rub anything on my eye area, I use my ring fingers (they are the weakest) to pat the oil on. That too contributes to better skin
PM
1. Always always always use Shu Uemura's skin purifier cleansing oil (cherry-pink for oily and acne prone skin) Takes off makeup like nothing else and keeps the blackheads in check
2. Emu oil (ultra clear; 2 drops) as eye moisturizer- again pat it on
3. Lucia (for my eyelashes)
4. MB's rose/aloe/herbs spray
5. Argan oil (a couple of time per week)
6. Finish off- Emu oil (ultra, not the clear type). Again, finish off by patting my face for a few minutes to increase blood flow and maximize absorption.
For very sporadic pimples, i use camocare' clear solution
2 times per week I use Alba's Deep Sea face mask (5-7 minutes)
1 time per week, Mary Kay's microdermabrasion fro 1-2 minutes
For supps/vits I take daily:
MSM (1000 mg)
Ester-C (1000 mg)
EPO (1000 mg)
Fish oil (1-2000 mg)
Zinc (50 mg)
I have been following this routine for approx. 2 years now and my skin looks awesome, my hair looks and feels great too. I feel healthy and getting complements on my skin & hair is always a plus
