Hi all,

I've a 7-year old cousin (i know it's a little too young for this forum) suffering from eczema and sun burn issues (in australia).. not sure if the sun exaggerated the eczema.. but according to the paediatrician, her face condition is actually eczema (we thought it's sun burn when it first happen)..

her face looks like an old lady now.. it's so dry that it's slightly scale-ly (around her eyes and cheek area).. i've tried primrose oil, olive oil, but it doesn't seem to work..

I would like to hear recommendations of lotions or oils that you guys can recommend, preferably natural ones and with healing properties, considering her age.. and would love to hear if anyone has similar problems.

Thank you!!

My niece suffers from eczema and what has worked wonders for her is Lucas Paw Paw ointment. You're in luck too as it's an Australian brand so widely available there! Their website: http://www.lucaspapaw.com.au/

I always treat sun burn issues with Aloe Vera Gel. It helps to soften and calm the skin.

St John's Wort has traditionally been used for burns (it's great for sun protection too..in additinal to what ever else she uses)sometimes it's called 'St. Joan's Wort' but it's the same herb...you can get it as an oil..(not an essential oil..but the fresh herb oil) on many herb sites in the States...you'd have to research in to see what is available in Australia (sometimes at a local natural food store if they are exceptionally well stocked)

Another herb that is good for eczema would be plantain

i don't know anyone personally who has eczema..so don't use these herbs for that purpose..but have used them successfully for related purposes...and frequent herb forums.. (and am a member of wonderful herb list populated by professional herbalists)...so i know about St john Wort and plantain for eczema from those sources..

if you are interested in natural remedies..you can check Susun Weed's forum at www.susunweed.com (you'll have to follow the prompts to the forum) and you can either do a search there or pose your question...as there are quite a few herbs that would be good for eczema and it may be interesting to see what others have to add.
