Yes, the thought of it is enough to make anyone cringe, but I am really considering trying this as a way to get rid of dermal hyperpigmentation issues (doing a tca peel after dermarolling). There was another member here that did this and reported good results, but never heard back from her about long term results

I've been using very few products on my skin this year...only 302 drops & A-boost + various oils, but I have seen no improvement in pigmentation, and this is my biggest concern.

I'm at the point where I realize that I'm going to need to do something aggressive and extreme to get rid of this pigmentation, or just accept it and live with it (which I do not want to do), as nothing else has worked.

Really, I'm trying to undo a lot of damage I've done to my skin (using too many harsh products, peels, etc.). All of my pigmentation issues right now are due to product abuse, so I'm really determined to undo all of my stupid mistakes.

Does this idea just sound really crazy? I'm thinking of doing a really high strength TCA too, like 40%-50%, then following up with NIA24 cream. I had really good results in the past with a high strength TCA peel and depigmentation of scars/stretchmarks. My only fear is causing even more damage...which is quite likely considering my track record.

I personally would not use the dermaroller with TCA. Unless you are very experienced (trained) I don't think the normal person knows the signs to look for so the TCA doesn't go too deep, which I have heard can Cause more hyperpigmentation. Have you tried Obagi Nu Derm? Or just Retin A and Hydroquinone for a length of time? This is also the recommended prep for a TCA peel (RA + HQ for at least 6 weeks prior to the peel, and then afterwards, as well). You may want to just try those for a while and see?

I looked up the original thread, but then noticed that you have already posted on it.

Like Riley, I wouldn't advise using TCA with a Dermaroller - sounds like a recipe for disaster to me.

Have you investigated laser treatments? My daughter recently had one for her hyperpigmentation - she said it has improved but has not totally gone.

Personally, I would worry about ending up in the emergency room and/or permanent disfigurement.

I would talk to a derm and do more research (I know I know, I sing the same song all the time)

I used to do dermaroller with glycolic acid peels and that was painful enough, can't even imagine how excrutiating it would be with TCA. This combination could easily lead to scarring, formation of red veins or post inflammatory hyperpigmentation if not performed correctly.
