Hyperpigmenation due to laser injury

Does anyone know if it's possible for hyperpigmentation due to a laser injury to resolve on it's own? Is there a product out there that could possibly help reduce this type of hyperpigmentation?

Have you looked into Copper Peptides? They have a section on recovery from procedures like lasers and peels on their website. CPs can help skin repair itself with out scars. They are not a quick fix, however. And it's a good idea to start out using them slowly to avoid what's called 'the uglies' (CPs remodel skin very fast and moving too fast can cause some temporary loosening of the skin).

There are several testimonials of users who had damage from lasers that looked like burns or gave them hyperpigmentation. The CPs got rid of that for them.

Thirteen years after my silk co2 laser resurfacing, I am still with hardly any pigment around my mouth and on my chin. I know that the question is about "hyper" not "hypo" pigmentation, but that machine sure changed me. Mostly because the procedure was for the sake of vanity. The redness immediately after the surgery stayed for a few months and then at about the one year mark I had settled in to minimal colour (I am medium/fair complexion).
Periodically I see a specialist and he is encouraging in the fact that they are always working on correcting skin "scaring" such as this. The research is geared towards burn and accident victims and progress is being made.
Apparently the new generation of lasers is supposed to be awesome Neutral

P.S. In my case, Copper Peptides did not help me one bit. I've lost track of products (both prescriptive and over the counter) that I have tried and all that changed was my bank account balance.

Thanks, RuthMarion, for sharing your experience. I have extremely sensitive skin, it was sensitive before being burned but even more so now... Sad

So, I'm treading very carefully..

P.S.- This new generation of lasers is not better, if anything, just more dangerous, SO many people being injured!

Hi. I am dealing with hyperpigmentation after active fx. I looked really good up until about 6 weeks after, then these brown splotches showed up mostly on my cheeks. I have really done my homework. This happens to approximately 30% of people who get laser, so it's no one's fault and don't blame yourself for wanting better skin. It goes away, eventually, but you can speed it up with a combination of hydroquinone/tretinoin and a steroid cream. Mine is 8% hydroquinone/0.05% tretinoin and the steroid is 0.01% Flucinolone.(prescription only) My doctor gave it to me. All the literature I've read says that this is what will work. It can take 3-6 months or more to go away. No peels, no IPL, no lasers. Use sunblock of at least 30. I wear a hat, taking no chances. I can see it's going to get better. Once I accepted the fact, I got over the anxiety. Oh, and also, using dermablend cover creme makeup to cover until it really goes away. Good luck!
