I've been reading up on Erno Laszlo and was wondering if anyone has used his clocking system. I'm thinking I'm a 12 o'clock or possibly a 1 o'clock and might just start out with the two cleansing products which are Active pHelityl oil and the Sea mud soap and go from there since they are the cleansers for both "clocks". On the EL website it said the soap is great for blackheads which is a recurring problem for me.
Anyone with any experience?

I used to use the whole Erno Lazlo system for a number of years in the 80's ( been around a long time... me and the skincare!) and I was a 1 o'clock at the time.
I used the oil and the seamud soap to cleanse and always did the hot and cold 30 splashes etc ....even when I came home at 3am from a disco! I was a good girl!
Well... I can categorically say that it ( and I had the entire line) was enjoyable because you felt you really were DOING something important for your skin, with sheer effort and the prestige cost! However... it did not do anything other than maintain in my case.. it became unavailable in my city ( Adelaide in Aust) and I lost motivation once I couldnt visit their counter in person so I stopped using it. I would done so though for a good 3 -4 years.
Back to the seamud soap. It did not remotely affect blackheads.. not in the least. It is a tallow based soap ( like original old soaps were before detergents) and the mud is definitely in there because you NEED those 30 splashes to get all the residue off. Not that it leaves you dirty ( definitely not!) but just isn't exactly free-rinsing. Normaliser Shake-It was quite nice on the oilier areas ( they may not recommend that for a 12 oclock though) but was like a pigmented talc suspended in a very alchoholic base... then Heavy Normaliser Shake-It at night which was just a stronger version of the above. If you think say Clinique Clarifying lotions are strong on alchohol ..wait till you see, feel and smell those!
I did like the Active Phelityl lotion ( day) and Cream at night....they are very soft and soothing and yet not greasy.
The whole range has the same fragrance, which I could pick out in a line up of a thousand things, to this day I would say! You would either like it or loathe it. I sort of liked it... very medicinal smelling.
Let's just say ... you ended up feeling very virtuous ... not nurtured or pampered... and it probably was not worth the money I spent over all that time. Well, no, definitely wasnt. Ah well... |

It certainly all looks very impressive...their clocking system sounds interesting.
I feel like trying the total blemish treatment but will hunt around for it to see if i can get it cheaper..$82 is way too much.
Phredd4...why dont you try Dermalogica's soap if you want to try one, ive never tried it but I know people who have who've given it rave reviews.

Muzzie - Thanks for the input. No alcohol for me so you've talked me out of trying it. I've tried many products that get rid of my blackheads within a few days, but for some reason it all quits working after a month or so. Why does that happen?
Farouk - Since I am a Dermalogica fan I think I'll pick up a bar of that soap at the spa next time I get a facial. I can always pass it on to my son after it quits working.

Kanebo is pretty good, but also expensive, and may be too harsh for some. |

I've been using DHC cleansing oil (tried Fancl too) for quite some time to take my makeup off before cleansing. Could that possible be the reason for my blackhead problem?

| It's said that mineral oil in products can clog pores, and unfortunately, most cleansing oils are based on mineral oil (I don't know about the one from Decleor, though). But as long as the oil doesn't leave a film on your face, you should be OK. Why don't you try going over with a mild foaming cleanser afterwards, to see if that helps you get rid of the problem? |

I've tried every kind of cleanser after the cleansing oils and still have the same problem.
My son's girlfriend just gave me some of her Proactiv so I'm going to try it out tonight. I guess it couldn't hurt to try it. I will kick this nasty blackhead habit somehow!

I am with Farouk too... if you want a bar type soap... Dermalogica's is really good!
Proactive is pretty drying but then if you only concentrate it on your problem areas and leave your cheeks etc alone it might help.
The toner has BHAs in it so that's a good thing to lean towards for blackheads isn't it? Seeing it gets inside pores rather than just sloughing off the top layers.
The Proactive Gentle Renewing Cleanser is very granular and not a bad thing for blackheads either! The Benzyol Peroxide is very antiseptic but blackheads aren't infected, just oxidised dried oil plugs.
Hey... ( this is revolting) have you ever seen them on a pore strip with a microscope? They really ARE little logs of dried yellow shiny oil( with dark tops if they are blackheads!) I shouldnt have admitted that! Someone one would do just the once I think! |

Periodically, I would go looking for other lines because Laszlo seemed to cause a lot of blackheads, AND it was/is quite expensive. I've always gone back because I have never found anything that works as well with my skin. Also, my skin seems to be sensitive and reacts negatively to many lines. I am currently "back on" but am looking around. I have had negative experiences when I go to Nordstrom to find products. What once was an exclusive line has now been moved to a "downsized" counter with salespeople who don't know (or care!) anything about the line. Rather depressing! I've looked into Caudalie products and, although pricey, they seem to have a good line. Anyone have any experience with that line? I'd be very interested in people's feedback. |

phredd4 - I'm like muzzie...I used the Laszlo line for years a long time ago and it was great for my skin. Unfortunately, the company changed ownership several times after Dr. Laszlo passed on, and every new owner diddled with the formulas. The salespeople now barely know anything about how to use the products and the products aren't the originals anyway. If you want to try one of the products for blackheads, I'd suggest the Heavy Controlling Lotion. You can use it with other lines to see if it does anything for you. But apply it the way Dr. Laszlo intended: at night, after you've cleansed & moisturized, put the Lotion on a big cotton ball and tap it on your oily areas. Don't wipe it across your skin - you want a pretty heavy layer. You'll look like a ghost because it's white, so warn anyone you are sleeping with!  If you get the pHelityl oil and sea mud soap, you must do the 30 splashes of hot water twice a day. This activity is what purges the pores (and exfoliates) and you might bring other gunk up for a few weeks. |

well i am adelaide as well, i thought i still see the brand in the city dj centre, but i donot know much thing about this brand, i am sure whether there is some prudect is not avaible anymore |

I've used the Lazslo Line off and on for the last 30 years. If my Rosacea is really acting up, I use Phormula 3-9 at night with wonderful results. I like the Pheltyl oil, and Phelityl lotion. The prices have soared in the last year for some of the products. I'm always looking for something cheaper or better.  |
