Hi all, I am new - been browsing this forum for a while now - thank you so much for sharing your knowledge!
I just have a couple of questions -
Ive been using ACV as a toner for a while now, usually just throw a dash on my hands, splash on some water and pat this on my face.
I'd like to keep a solution in a bottle though. ACV is a preservative in itself, i know that - but I am wondering. If mixed in a ratio of 1:1 with water and kept in a bottle - would this solution be stable without any preservatives? Considering ACV is a preservative?
Would such a concentration be stable? With the addition of perhaps grapeseed extract and even some salt?
I understand that the general rule is water needs preservation. Salt water would not though .... So surely water with a 50% (or even higher) vinegar concentration be self preserved?
My second question regards seakelp bioferment.
If one was to combine this, with glycerine and a few essential oils - would this be stable on its own?
Sorry for the long post, but i have been searching for what would seem 'simple answers' but have not had any luck as of yet.
Thank you so much in advance! |

I use ACV toner. I make up 200ml of 50/50 water and ACV which lasts me around two months. I've never worried about it going off - vinegar is a preservative and is used for pickling.
Maybe someone else will be able to help you with the Seakelp Bioferment. However, I would just make it up and see how you go. DIY is so cheap, if it starts to look or smell iffy, just ditch it and make a fresh batch. |
