Hi! I'm attempting to finally develop some sort of skincare routine, and don't quite know where to start. I'm 28, and have always gone with the minimalist approach (read: soap & whatever moisturizer is on sale), but I think it's time to start caring for my skin a bit better. Okay, the time actually passed a while back, but better late than never, right? I have dryish skin with frequent breakouts, and am a bit of a hippie so I am looking for all natural products with no animal testing. Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated, as I'm at a bit of a loss! A friend suggested Sothys products, which she uses, but from what I can tell, this is the group to get the real scoop from, as you all seem extremely knowledgeable! Thanks again! |

Hi jcb,
Welcome to the forum, I hope you get lots of advice.
A great line in natural skincare is Elemis, you should try their Facial wash (the only skin wash that I've tried tht isn't drying) and follow it with their SOS cream both are great for skin in distress (its almost a blam texture make sure you warm it well in your hands) I use it when I have the montly breakout or when my skin goes haywire and it just needs some TLC.
Its a simple routine but its a great start and you should feel and see the benefits almost instantly.
Their web site is www.timetospa.com
Take care and Happy New Year.

I'm going with Dr Hauschka. Quote from their website: "Dr.Hauschka Skin Care opposes animal testing. We do not perform animal testing nor do we use ingredients that have been tested on animals".
I really love this line and it is 100% natural. If you do not wear makeup then all you really need is the Cleansing Cream and either the Quince Day Cream or the Rose Day Cream (the latter being the most moisturising). Dr H does not believe in putting products on your face at night (apart from toner) but I usually cheat on that one If you do wear makeup then you may need an additional cleanser to remove that before you use the Cleansing Cream (which is more of a daily gentle scrub than a cleanser).

Thanks for the suggestions! Out of curiosity, what type of pm cream do you use, Mabsy? My face always feels parched after I wash it, so I don't know that I could skip the moisturize step in the evening. Also, would you recommend an eye cream? I'm starting to get some super fun wrinkles around my eyes Thanks again! |

Splendid Blends, a mom and pop gig out of New Hampshire, has very hig quality products with VERY reasonable prices. So many compnaies gouge us because they know our skin is our face and our face is our presentation to the world. They've got us, don't they? :-> Plus the whole pampering thing.
Check out Splendid Blends. Customer service is great and shipping is so fast, you may get what you want more quickly than if you battled the weather on errands.

Well, your skin could feel dry after washing because the cleanser is too drying or because your skin IS dry. My face doesn't actually feel dry after the Dr H Cleansing Cream so I can see why they say you can get away without using anything (if you have normal or combo skin anyway). I have done a couple of courses of the Dr H Rhythmic Night Conditioner (just a toner consitency) and have not used anything else at night. The first few nights you feel a bit weird doing that but afterwards my skin was compltely fine without any moisturiser. I still like to use it though At the moment I'm just using Jurlique Herbal Recovery Gel. It's a light gel - smells wonderful and AFAIK they don't test on animals.
Re: eye creams - I wouldn't be able to live without one! Ok, that's a slight embelishment of the truth but I use eye creams 2x day. I'm not too sure about natural ones though as the ones I use are not (perhaps with the exception of the Sircuit one - though I'm not sure about that). Hopefully others might be able to suggest a good eye cream. The brands that I can think of are Dr Hauschka, YonKa, Decleor, Jurlique, Eminence Organics, and Body Shop (possibly). |

Wow, looking at all these options is crazy! It's like this whole world exists that I knew nothing about! But I'm excited to jump in... I've ordered a bit from several of the lines mentioned, and am probably mixing and matching in a crazy way, but I'm excited to give it a whirl and see what happens. Thanks to everyone for your help! |

I'm currently using Murad C eye cream during the day (has sunscreen in it) and Babor Sensational Eyes at night. I'm very happy with both products but I don't think they are too organic. I completely agree with the Dr. Hauschka rec...those products are great. I have used a couple of the moisturizers and plan to get the cleansing cream.I |

hello, I'm 24 and also concerned about skincare. I started using Noevir products about a year ago, and decided to join the company because I truly believe in the products. I now get compliments on my skin and people always ask what products I use. They carry a complete line of skin products for all skin types.
Noevir is a all natural no animal testing company in Japan. Noevir never adds no unnecessary ingredients, no minerals oil, no artificial emulsifiers and no artificial colorants. Rated ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 14001 certified, meeting the international standards for quality and environmental management systems. |
