hello everyone
I'm a new member here and I have a question about oily skin. I've been suffering from acne for about 10 years. I'm 25 years old and have tried almost everything to fix my problemed skin. I'm currently using Proactive, and seems to be keeping me from breaking out. I guess I could say that it's improving my skin as well, except that my skin still gets very oily throughout the day. What would you recommend? |

Hi and welcome
This should be in skincare really, but anyhow, I'd think about other stuff you are using...really harsh cleansers, especially those with alcohol in them are really bad as they strip the skin of oil resulting in overproduction of oil. Try using an oil based cleanser (I know someone who uses extra virgin olive oil and swears that it is the best at stopping the oilies!), use spot treatments on spots only and a light, chemical free moisturiser may help. My daughter keeps her zits under control with purple emu blemish control. It doesn't do much around the time of month, but the rest of the time her skin looks pretty good.

you can always try an anti shine treatment like decleor's. It's a bit of a powdery gel that soaks up oil and keeps your skin matte.
Sometimes your makeup will cause the shine too..experiment a bit and see if that's the cause |

I know you’re going to look at me like I’ve lost my mind, but...Milk of Magnesia. Seriously. Smooth on a (very) thin layer in the morning (it’s invisible once it dries) after applying your moisturizer and before your makeup. I have the oiliest skin you can imagine, and this keeps me from getting the “shinies” by 9am and is more effective than all of the shine control/mattifying products I’ve tried (and I’ve tried nearly all of them!). In case you don’t know, MoM is a laxative and can be bought at any pharmacy or supermarket. Get the unflavored kind, though, because the minty flavored verison could irritate your skin.
