Okay to start off with, I'm Nathan and yes I am a male!
I'm 18 years old and live in Australia and have decided to get my sun-damaged skin under-control.

So, my skin type is pretty good, I don't have acne and I don't really have abnormal skin but the only problem I have is my sun-damaged skin (freckles, uneven skin tone etc.)

The products I've been using that have been working are 40% Glycolic Acid Peels
70% Lactic Acid Peels
PCA pHaze 13 Pigment Gel

I also use pure vitamin e oil and moisturize with cetaphil and cleanse with clinque (I read that some of you hate clinque haha).

I have seen good improvements but I want to take the next step, the glycolic and lactic aren't really doing anything and maybe that has to do with the acidity or something but I'm not sure..

I'm thinking about going down the 70% strength glycolic peel or possibly TCA, however I know with TCA theres quite abit of down-time.

Right now I'm hardly peeling with the glycolic strength I am on and I leave it on for ten minutes plus.

Thank-you so much and I am looking forward to reading your responses!!

Hello Nathan and welcome to EDS!

The first thing I'd tell you is.... you need to have patience! It took years to do the damage, you can't expect it to get undone in little time.

The first thing you need to make sure is that you apply A LOT of sunscreen and very often. Just putting a bit of a "whatever" sunscreen in the morning will not cut it if you're doing peels, etc. The sundamage will not go away and it might actually get worse.

Secondly, you also need to remember that doing higher percentages of peels will also increase the likelihood of side effects, most importantly post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. You really need to try to avoid this.

I would suggest that on top of doing peels you start using Retin-A and possibly hydroquinone. You will definitely get faster results than with the peels alone. Alternatively, you can do a medium depth peel done by a professional, but even then you should prepare your skin with Retin-A and HQ for some weeks before the peel.

All the best!

You could try using a good Vitamin C product in the morning (one that contains l-ascorbic acid). But it will take some time to work.

Thank-you! I have been doing it for about 6 months now so that's why I was wondering if I should take the next step..

And I use an spf 100 sunscreen twice a day to protect from the sun, so I think I have that covered haha!

and the PCA has 4% HQ so yeah!

What kind of medium depth peel were you thinking?

I love Skinceuticals CE Ferulic. It did wonders at removing my brown spots.
