Which of these devices works better for anti aging issues? Also where is the best place to purchase the unit that gives better results? Thanks

I have both units (hand-held AA LightStim and the DPL).

My personal experience is that I saw faster results with the DPL unit, plus I like that I can treat my entire face in 17 minutes. I did notice some refining with the LightStim, but since I treat my face/neck/hands, it took over an hour every night. I'm often pressed for time in the evenings dealing with pets, husband, gym, dinner, that sometimes an hour is just too much since I'm up at 4:45 am to get ready for work, so I hit the sack early.

I contacted Louisa at Hollywood Beauty Secrets to ask why I saw such fast results over the Lightstim (which she used to sell, by the way). The DPL contains more infra-red lights (those are the ones you can't see) which penetrate deeper into the skin at 880nm, versus red lights that penetrate into the skin at 660nm. So you have more lights that penetrate at a deeper level. The panels can be affixed to a stand that comes in the package, or else you can just lay them directly on your face(eyes closed), which is what I do.

I see that Toby provided some links, but here's a great one that has a nice Q&A on the DPL:
http://www.emersonww.com/DPLfaqs.htm

I purchased my unit from Louisa @ HBS
http://www.hollywoodbeautysecrets.com/led_light_therapy.htm

She sells this unit for $289 and free shipping and I found it on several other sites for quite a bit more money. I had never heard of Louisa's site until I started doing some research. I ordered one of her books a week ago since I was so pleased with my unit...it's been a fun read. She also emailed me one of her ebooks for free, so if you do contact her, ask about it.

Best of luck on whatever you decide to do!

Hi Jenj,
It seems most people on this forum are talking about the Lightstim. Do people not like the DPL unit here that much? If so I am wondering why? One thing I was wondering about is I read you have to sit with the DLP unit 1/2" away from your face, this seems like it would be uncomfortable and sitting that close to the unit how would your jawline and other areas of your face fully get exposed? I just ask these questions because I know nothing about these LED devices except that everybody is talking about them and they do seem to help with antiaging issues. I do like that the DLP only takes 17 mins. but I wonder why everybody seems to favor the Stimlight so much and nothing is really said much about the DLP. Any comments or advice?

Hi Bixa,

I think Lightstim is a more well known name perhaps due to publicity? I'm definitely not putting it down, but as I mentioned, I like the fact that the DPL has more infra-red lights, which go deeper in the the skin...that was one of the main selling points for me. You may want to do your own research on the specific lights (reds/infra-reds/blue) to see which one or combination will best meet your needs. The links I posted earlier may answer some questions and provide some helpful information.

The DPL panels are nicely sized, so if you choose to sit in front on the panels, while affixed to the stand, you entire face will be covered. I prefer to actually lay down and hold the panels on my face (no stand) as it's very relaxing and my 17 minutes of downtime. You can actually treat the face in 9 minutes, but I figure go for the max. The unit is timed to shut off after 17 minutes and there's a beep after every minute.

I bought a handheld DPl Nuve (ShopNBC $200) that gave me FANTASTIC results, smoothed out wrinkles and plumped up my skin. However, after 1 1/2 months it quit working and the company told me that I had to send it back and they would send a replacement. This was on a Monday and I received it on Thursday, plus a pre-paid postage sticker to send the other one back.
In the meantime, I ordered a Lightstim (from QVC because it's $244 on 5 value pays, free shipping AND a *90* day money back guarantee). It came the day after the replacement DPL, so I was able to give the return pkg to the UPS guy.
I've noticed that after using both at the same time, one in each hand ala FaceMaster wands, my results are even better than before. The age spots on the back of my hands are fading after only 4 days of use and the thing I really like is that the Lightstim doesn't shut off after 25 mins like the DPL or get as hot. I think I like having both because of the different issues I can treat. Even with the cost of the 2 units added together it's not nearly as much as I paid for Botox and Restalyne 3 months ago, which I hope to eliminate or cut down by using these lights. And the best part is the results are natural-looking. Cool
