Hey, when I was at the hair salon last week to get my highlights redone, I had my stylist shape up my eyebrows, too. She's from Vietnam and is very skilled at using the threading technique, so I asked her to do it on me. She was a little leery, saying that it hurts more than just plain waxing but I was insistent. First of all, I have to say that it did NOT hurt as much as waxing does! It's sort of a mild stinging sensation, like if you put a rubber band around your wrist and lightly snapped it against your skin -- that's basically how it felt. I was astonished at how quickly she was able to shape and arch both brows using only a piece of sewing thread!! I think from now on, I'll chose threading over waxing and next time I need to remove the hair above my upper lip, I'll get Chau to thread that too. Anyway, I just wanted to report back on my first experience with eyebrow threading as I know some of you have expressed interest in the technique.

my friends get threading done all the time and love it. I used to get waxing a lot but my brows don't grow much anymore...
I wonder if threading will slow down growth like waxing did for me? |

I wonder why brows stop growing so much after waxing? I've been plucking my brows for years, I wish they would stop growing back!!! |

This is just complete straw-grasping, but maybe it’s because waxing is a more “violent” technique of hair removal. Like maybe when you rip the wax/strip away it pulls the hair from the roots and maybe damages or kills the follicle so it can’t grow back?? Or, possibly, I’m simply full of excrement! All I know is that when I tweeze the little b*stards, it seems like ten more hairs grow in its place. |

I was under the impression that *any* method of hair removal that removes the hair together with the root will make the hair weaker on regrowth and eventually it will stop growing back. So, technically, there shouldn't be any difference between waxing and tweezing. Unless waxing scares the crap out of the hair and its neighbours and it just doesn't want to come back... Ignore me, late night last night.... still recovering... |
